Paul Williams will never look that great against slick southpaws but he won the fight and I was even more inpressed with him after this fight than any other fight because of the way he adjusted during the fight. I love when fighters are able to make adjustments during and not get rattled or lose focus
What was the adjustment... that he only got caught with left hands towards the end??? *looooooooooooooooool*
This fight was closer than Cotto vs Clottey! Some rounds were really close. 119-110 is a travesty. I would love to see a rematch but at 154 for Martinez's belt so it freaking means something. It's a shame to have two world class fighters give it their all for 12 rounds and get nothing at the end of the day but a paycheck and a swolen face.
He got schooled and still won the fight. It's one thing to be a Williams fan and be honest enough to say the fight could have gone either way ALTHOUGH I had it has a draw, than to be an asshurt detractor who is crying foul. You MUST be a Mayweather fan.
You are right... everybody who knows boxing on this site is a Mayweather fan *looooooooooooool*
You seem to be obsessed with him. As soon as somebody says something you always bring up Mayweather, even though he wasn't even mentioned. Are you somebody who really thought that he is gay and after he turned you down you now running wild dude? Is P-Will into you?
It's a small line between love and hate and god damn... you must love Mayweather bad.

Are you serious??? Did you not see him start blocking that lead right hook from Martinez and start moving his head more but whatever.....Paul Williams won and thats the end of it.
Next up:Pavlik for the title

Yes, I'm... after three rounds he tried to put more pressure on him and Martinez rested a bit... but virtually whenever he wanted to... he hit him... it's hard for me to give him a pass for an adjustment... because he still got hit and hurt... ain't you saw his eyes roll on some of these shots... he was happy that Martinez didn't follow up...
I had Martinez the winner... but you can't argue that a judge sees it different based on agression.
Of course he won... that's how it goes down. We will see what happens when Martinez has a whole 8 week preparation time and at 154. I really thought that P-Will improved. But now I'm not so sure if the first Quintana fight is the truth. I thought that he had an off night but now I'm not so sure anymore. If you blow someone out in one round it's impressive but not very visable if you really learned from it. I might add that yes, Martinez is a good defender. But he is not very fundamentally sound... his defense is pretty much based on his feet. He has his hands down and ****... I really thought that P-Will can bring some more on him.
We will see against Pavlik... I don't know why Pavlik shouldn't beat him. Let's face it... JT is a guy who has more power then P-Will, he's an better athlet, a better boxer and couldn't beat Pavlik. JT of course is lacking then mental aspect of the game as it seems... but I don't see P-Will moving for 12 rounds against Pavlik and using his jab to stay out of distance... Pavlik sooner or later will get to him... and Pavlik can take a good shot... so I don't know why Williams should hurt him
One fight that I've lost interest in even though I didn't have that much in it to begin with is a Bernard Hopkins-Paul Williams fight. Martinez made a lot of Paul's punches ineffective by clinching him, and imagine what Hopkins would do. The only thing that works in Paul's favor in that fight is that Hopkins isn't as fast and elusive as he was when he fought Kelly Pavlik. But Hopkins would make Paul Williams look really foolish.

Yeah, that's true... but I think that is a fight that P-Will could win... because he simply throws and probably would outwork him because Hopkins wouldn't throw as much as Martinez even if an opening is there... but it wouldn't be an exciting fight.
I think that the clinching was pretty smart and I don't think it was on the Klitschko level. If a bigger man punches once and helds on to you it looks pretty bad. Martinez was smaller and tried to stay as close as he could during exchanges so that Paul couldn't extend and then grabbed him... but I think it was not that bad that you could say it was an deciding factor. I think Williams at times was pretty happy about the clinching... but Martinez was the one who started most of that. But clinching to a degree is part of boxing... as long as it isn't massive I'm ok with it.
its disconcerting that williams hasn't learnt how to deal with leftys at this stage of the game.
if martinez had any real power the outcome would of been different.
