i havent seen it yet: i couldnt get a stream and they took it off youtube
Was a damn good fight. I thought Martinez did enough to deserve the victory but Paul's determination was a great factor. Even when he was getting the piss smacked out of him, he never once gave up.
Although Martinez held his own he didn't beat Williams. It was an even exchange. Both fighters gave it as well as they took it. I thought Martinez got away with waay too much holding and rough house tactics (he literally tackled Williams and took him to the canvas like 3 or 4 times). Which took a lot out of Williams. I thought the score of 119 to 110 for Williams was absurd. Again I saw it as a draw and these two should definitely get together SOON and do it again but this time with a belt at stake.
I think he got away with a lot of holding as well. I can't understand why BOTH of these dudes don't have more fans. Although Martinez gave him a fit, I know Paul can fight him a lot differently. Martinez on the other hand is gonna do the same thing. Paul puts his hand up to defend against that hook and it becomes a different fight. DEFINATELY a draw, but I wouldn't have been disappointed if it had gone either way. But they definately need to do it again for Martinez strap.
I am not a jockey fan. I like Paul Williams but my point is.
If two slick fighters like Quintana and Martinez could get
into Paul, then what about Floyd? Then I went to asked
the question is it really safe to say that he is a threat at 147?
and that's why the ? is there. I actually picked Paul Williams
to win in this fight and was right eventhough people are crying
foul, he still won.
2 SOUTHPAW fighters. If you go back, Sharmba Mitchell was hitting PW. Floyd on the other hand gets HIT by southpaw i.e. Corley, Mitchell, Judah. Floyd Sr. sent a message from prison instructing Roger and Jeff early in his career to keep him out of the ring with decent southpaws cause the shoulder roll defense doesnt work against it.
I was surprised to see P. Will struggled against Martinez.....Martinez showed he has the heart. P. Will won but those fans arguing him to be included among the top 5 P4P would not have a strong case going forward
I heard so much about the feared Paul Williams and how he dominates his opponents with all the punches. Now all I can say is yeh maybe he can dominate 40 year old fighters but.... And to me Martinez looked like the much better fighter as Williams spent most of his time winging arm punches. Hell, even Calzaghe throws heavier punches then Williams. It is also very obvious that Williams is no defensive master so why would anyone believe that Pavlik will not be able to hit him?
Awesome fights last nght. I didn't score this one, thought it was close though. The 109-110 score should get that judge banned for life.
Martinez is a lot better than I gave him credit for. Williams on the other hand is still as good to me imo. It's out that you need to be able to counter him and box, but you can't hurt him. He walked through bombs over and over again.
I haven't seen the boards, but if people are bashing Williams, it's for no reason. He's one of the most exciting fighters to watch, an all out warrior who always puts on a show. Both guys deserve props, both guys deserve a W.
