  • I scored the fight a draw, but I have no issue with Williams winning. That 119-110 was a joke though. Where do they find these Judges at? Do they even know the sport?

On another note I think Williams durability is wearing down. Although he has a ****load of determination, his punch taking ability does not seem to be where it used to be. Could it be from all the weight jumping? It very well could be. Martinez had Williams right at that invisible line a couple times, where one more punch could have put Williams down again.

Williams had better start playing defense very soon because once he faces a real puncher he could get KO'd hard.

Judges and Ref's = **** and what pisses me off is that they get paid !!!!! ( in this economy ) FUC
Martinez is no D class fighter. Just because you never heard of him does'nt mean he's D class. You obviously have no knowledge of the sport at all.

      • Paul Williams will never look that great against slick southpaws but he won the fight and I was even more inpressed with him after this fight than any other fight because of the way he adjusted during the fight. I love when fighters are able to make adjustments during and not get rattled or lose focus

          • Scored it 117-114 for Martinez; though it seemed closer. Several tough to score rounds. I scored three even. Williams showed many of his old flaws that I thought he might have fixed, but I was still very impressed with the pressure he brings. Super impressed with Martinez. Both guys showed amazing toughness and fortitude. Awesome fight!

            • Williams drops his left when he throws his right and vise versa. Thats why Martinez was catching him so easy. There is a little boxing lesson for you guys.

              • His size is his biggest advantage. He needs to improve a lot on his fundamentals. For the first half of the fight he refused to keep his hands up. After the knockdown, that should have been the first adjustment. Then he throws his left with his chin up in the air. He has a lot of technical flaws. I don't think this fight exposed him. I just think it was a learning lesson.

He got schooled and still won the fight. It's one thing to be a Williams fan and be honest enough to say the fight could have gone either way ALTHOUGH I had it has a draw, than to be an asshurt detractor who is crying foul. You MUST be a Mayweather fan.

Great observation. While him dropping the left is of no consequence againt conventional fighters, it is a definately no-no against southpaws who can counter with the right hook. He should have kept that left hand HIGH on his cheek and he could have caught almost all of Martinez hooks.

A lot of people are saying that Pavlik would KO Williams. And that's probably true if he connected. But his punches and hand speed are a lot slower than Martinez's. Styles make fights and that's why I still think that Williams would give Pavlik a beating. Martinez is one of the slickest boxers out there and Pavlik just comes forward with no movement. Even though Williams got hit a lot in this fight he was still slipping a lot of Sergio's punches. He could see Pavlik's punches coming from a mile away. One thing that Sergio did wrong in the fight though was throwing the right hook too wide. He should've shortened it up more and it would've found the mark.
