He now needs a name to add to his resume. Nate Campbell, Joel Casamayor, Junior Witter,Paul Malignaggi

These are all fight he could win in my opinion and would rase his profile.. most of them are aging and would be the right time for a young boxer like khan to take advantage.

And then head over to America for the likes of Bradley or Holt, or alexander
He does not need to raise his profile - his profile already far outstrips his achievements in the ring. He's been massively hyped. What he needs to do is to prove that he can beat a top 10 fighter who can punch. Maidana is his mandatory and he needs to fight him. Instead he's just talking about fighting old men like Marquez or shot fighters like Hatton, which is why real boxing fans don't yet have much respect for him. If he takes on Maidana and beats him convincingly, he'll get the respect from boxing fans that he says he wants. But he doesn't even mention Maidana in his interviews, so he doesn't deserve respect until that changes.

Thanks for posting that, glad he's finally mentioned him, and said that he'd like to fight him. It's the first time I've heard him mention Miadana at all, though.

The only worry now is that Roach and Warren are going to be over-protective and prevent the fight from happening.

Warren is my boiggest worry - he keeps ******ly claiming that the Prescott fight was a case of bad matchmaking, whereas it wasn't, it was actually a case of ****** tactics in the ring, and terrible training. Khan had never been taught the fundamentals until he teamed up with Roach.

Roach has sounded very unenthusiastic about the fight in interviews, although to be fair, he said he thinks Khan would outbox Maidana, but that it's high risk low reward at present, and that Maidana needs to do more to raise his profile first so that it can become a big, money making fight. He has a point there, too, because Maidana was offered fights with several top 10 opponents last month but turned them down to fight someone with a 22-5-1 record, which is pathetic and very unfortunate. Despite that, I think it's very important that Khan fights Maidana in 2010. I think he can win, with Roach in his corner, and it will look like a blatant duck if he doesn't fight him.

          • Hopefully Khan improves his opponents from this point on. He should build on this win and keep the momentum going

correct. it was funny too, the way salita brought the *** flag instaed of US when he's fighting out of NY. His camp did a lame job of using the Islreal-Arab conflict with it... BTW ***ish God, according to the bible, has been punishing his own people since day one, and now the 1st round KO. nice one yeahway!

              • Maidana is nothing special. He has power, that's it. He has very limited skills. Amir Khan will eat him alive! There are better fights for Amir out there... Marquez is one... I'm pretty sure Amir will stop Marquez...

Khan has yet to prove he can beat a fighter with real power. Maidana is Khan's mandatory and he destroyed Ortiz, yet Warren says he wants Khan to fight Ortiz and not Maidana!! If that isn't being a pathetic chicken, I don't know what is. No real boxing fan will have any respect for Khan if he ducks Maidana.

yeah mate , roach looks to have confidence in his man but warren as usual would rather have khan take the path of least resistance , khan maidana is a must for khan , he wont gain the respect of the wider boxing audience if he doesnt .
Maidana may be a little one dimensional but he has great heart and determination and khan would have to stay alert for the full 12 rounds , using his fast footwork and movement to avoid getting caught cleanly. I hope the kid does well though because he's still young and a great representative for britain.
