Golota was not robbed in their first fight. I'm afraid anyone who scored the fight for Andrew doesn't know the meaning of "effective" aggression. Golota just tired himself out wailing away ineffective punches on Byrd's gloves and shoulders and allowed Byrd to sweep most of the later rounds. Golota in his 2nd incarnation has not showed good stamina (the man is 36 years old) and he lacks the snap on his punches he displayed 8 years ago. In a rematch an even older and less ethusiastic Golota would get beaten clearly on the scorecards . . .
Who Would Win? Andrew Golota vs Chris Byrd

Right and Wrong.Originally posted by ejk22If either Ruiz or Byrd want a fight against Vitali (that's assuming he beats Williams) it should be on Vitali's terms and not on Don King's. He should attempt to keep King away as much as possible from getting involved because that could only mean problems for Vitali. You must remember Vitali does not have to fight Byrd or Ruiz, all he needs to do is continue on fighting WBC mandatory's. The ball is in Vitali's court not in Byrd's, Ruiz or Kings.
King's terms will be there, along with Vitali's. King would screw his fighters for a while longer, if Vitali's promoters don't bend and sway a bit. Without King's fighters, Vitali's "legacy" will not materialize.
King's boys need Vitali. Vitali needs them. Fighting the WBC mnadatory does not appeal to either Vitali, his bank account, his legacy and most of, to fight fans.Comment

Well the Golota vs Byrd fight was alot closer decision than the Ruiz vs Golota fight. I had the Golota over Byrd by one point, ultra close. In the other fight I had Golota over Ruiz by three points.
Although the two times that Byrd did lean down and touch the canvas with his gloves in the rule book that should have been ruled a knockdown.Comment

Of course, while Golota is getting older, Byrd is getting younger? Doesn't help Byrd's "age" that he gets knocked on his can by the fly-swatter McCline.Originally posted by dempseyfireGolota was not robbed in their first fight. he wasn`t robbed at all, but rather pampered into the title bout....golota is too stiff and robotic, and i believe byrd took it too easy and thus making it a close decision.....if there were a rematch, byrd would win even more convincingly...Comment

Still doesn't answer why Byrd was not charged with a knockdown when his gloves touched the canvas.Originally posted by moochihe wasn`t robbed at all, but rather pampered into the title bout....golota is too stiff and robotic, and i believe byrd took it too easy and thus making it a close decision.....if there were a rematch, byrd would win even more convincingly...Comment
