What STATE has more ATG's than Michigan?

Is there any state with more GREAT Boxers than the state of Michigan?

Sugar Ray Robinson: Robinson was 85-0 as an amateur with 69 ko's, 40 in the first round. Had a professional record of 128-1-2 with 84 knockouts. Robinson's performances at the welterweight and middleweight divisions prompted sportswriters to create "pound for pound" rankings, where they compared fighters regardless of weight.

Joe Louis: Louis's amateur record was 50 wins against 4 losses, with 43 knockouts and had a professional record of 65-3 with 51 knockouts. Louis's championship reign lasted 27 championship fights, including 25 successful title defenses – all records for the heavyweight division.

Tommy Hearns: Hearns had an amateur record of 155–8. His professional record was 61-5-1 with 48 knock outs. He won eight world championships in six weight classes during his pro career & was the first man ever to win four world titles in four weight classes.

James Toney: Toney had an amateur record of 31-3. His professional record is 72-6-3 with 44 KO's. He has won titles @ MW, SMW, LHW, CW & HW. he was the Boxing Writers Association of America & Ring Magazines Fighter of the Year for 1991 and 2003.

    &

Floyd Mayweather: Mayweather Jr. had an amateur record of 84-6 Mayweather has won six world boxing championships in five different weight classes. He was named Ring Magazine Fighter of the Year in 1998 and 2007. He is currently ranked number 2 pound for pound fighter in the world. Mayweather is undefeated with a record of 40-0 with 25 wins by knockout.

Will Andre Dirrell be the NEXT Great Fighter from Michigan??

Ray Robinson was born in Georgia and lived in New York. Why claim Michigan?

Ray lived most of his childhood in the state of Michigan(he was born in Georgia but moved shortly after to Michigan). He took up boxing in Michigan but honestly didn't really get big into the sport until he moved to New York. Where you were born really doesn't matter imo. Joe Louis was born in Alabama but is known for being a Michigan guy. In regards to the question no states has more ATG's than Michigan besides New York. NYC and Detroit have the best boxing history in the whole world.

I forgot to mention that you left Stanley Ketchel off the list. Ketchel was a better fighter than Mayweather, Toney, or Hearns. Maybe the second best fighter ever from the state.

So should Ray be considered a Michigan fighter or a New York fighter

And, Pennsylvania has more ATG's than Michigan.

I don't think Joe Louis learned how to box in Alabama...I think it was when his family moved to Michigan
