Why is Mexico in here? Other than ruling the smaller weight classes for over 50 years just take a look at any list of Mexican greats and you will find just as many Hall of Famers as the United States has produced.
If Mexico is on this list then the United States should be on this list as well. -
Difficult to say although Americans can be just as guilty. You see when a Brit fighter loses the fans have to stick by him because there is such a small talent pool of Brit fighters, when an American loses they pretend they did not hype him and move onto the next American hopeful and pretend it never happened.
IE Jeff Lacy. You will struggle to find many American's who will admit to backing Lacy to beat Joe.Comment

all countries produce over hyped fighters. It's a business and wherever there is money to be made you're going to see products that some times aren't that great sold to the public as being better then they actually are. Why? To make money while they can!Comment

In highly developed Western countries where the media and tabloid culture have such a large influence on normal people it's easy to become a famous household name overnight with a bit of success. Companies can use these outlets to make someone a global star relatively easily, as our top sports stars receive attention all around the world.
In poorer countries you'll generally find it's much more difficult to get that chance, and to get a media outlet with true global power behind you. They usually have to be that bit more special to break through and become a real star.
Therefore you'll see the truly overhyped boxers coming out of the developed Western nations almost exclusively. Where would Amir Khan be without the tabloids and SkySports/ITV? It's because of the power of our media and how much easier it is us for us to get global media attention.Comment
