He has some valid points but Ali wasnt in a 5 year exile as far as i know it was only 3 years..
Here`s a writer telling it like it is about pac

The problem with Nick Wong is that he's making all these observations after the fact.
1) Nobody expected Oscar to come in weight-drained and get destroyed by Manny, that's really Oscar's fault for not making weight properly.
2) Nobody expected Hatton to get wiped out in 2 rounds. That was Ricky's worst performance in his career but not due to ill-preparation or being past his prime but because Manny was utterly brilliant that night. Ricky just came from a TKO win over Malignaggi who has one of the best chins in the sport.
3) And with regards to Cotto, nobody expected Pacquiao to absorb all of his best shots and win a lopsided TKO. There were doubts as to whether Manny could handle Cotto's power considering that he is one of the hardest hitters in the division (even Mosley confirmed that fact). But Pacquiao ate the best shots that Cotto dished out all night long. And Manny's not even a real welterweight! Having a strong chin (and body) is a priceless asset for boxers. Manny ran through Cotto's punches and only lost two close rounds in the entire fight. I'm assuming Nick Wong was able to predict this, right?
4) Nobody is claiming that Pacquiao is the greatest boxer ever. Where the hell did Nick Wong grab this statement from? But there are many fans who are saying that Pacquiao will go down as one of the greatest ever. Even Bert Sugar claims that Pacquiao is a Top 20 ATG.
Nick Wong is focusing too much on the failures of Oscar, Ricky, and Miguel instead of the brilliant performances of Pacquiao the nights he faced them all.Last edited by NSX-R; 12-03-2009, 03:57 PM.Comment

Sure if you get extremely technical Pac didn't win 7 major titles in different weight classes, however, the boxing world will give him credit. How many other fighters have spanned as many weight classes as Pac while fighting the level of competition he has? What do you people want? Want Pac to go back to 135 and bean JMM again?Comment

So with your logic Ali shouldn't get credit for beating Frazier after that pummeling he took from Foreman.Nobody said "shot". Miguel Cotta was substantially reduced from the version that beat Shane.
Miguel didn't just have "a loss". He was (likely) plasterized. That Margarito fight was a pummeling.
And you don't just have to be PHYSICALLY faded. Look at what miguel did for the last four rounds. Was he trying to win a fight...or was he in pure survival mode? Was he willing to go out on his shield, or was he being waved in to fight?
The reality is that Teddy atlas' assessment was right.

Pac may have taken the roads of less resistance in higher weight classes, however you can't deny the tough opposition he had to face to get to the p4p list. He fought and defeated a prime Marco Anotnio Barrara twice, Fought 3 times with Morelas and 2x with Marquez.
You can't argue that these weren't the best feather and super featherweights of our time.
even though he didn't clean out the lightweight division, you still have to give credit to pac for dominating over ricky hatton, who at the time was the BEST lightwelter weight in the world.
as for Miguel Cotto, I doubt that he was drained for the fight, he was only 1 pound lighter then his previous fight.
And also Pac didn't choose to fight De la Hoya, it was the other way around.Last edited by bbos; 12-03-2009, 04:12 PM.Comment

Very strange. First time to hear a chinese named boxer. This gotta be false and made up. If it was a thailander name it would have been believable.
Damn *****s, always making up stories again thinking they can lick floyd's nuts.Comment

why cant you think first before you post. pacquiao never avoided anyone. it was a career strategy by his handler. do you expect pacquiao to pick opponents by himself?how about ledwaba? he was a just the replacement then, he went to fight and won it. marco barrera, his was a big name, if hes avoiding or avoided anyone. his handlers or particularly roach prolly the ones analysing which opponent can be beat in an even ground. pacman fights those his handlers chooses. he was challenged by delahoya, most of those "boxing experts" predicted that manny would be destroyed, it was a good opportunity as far as pacmans carreer is concerned so he accepted, delahoya cannot go down at 135 and obviously pacman cannot go up at 154 so 147 was set. this is what you *****s are ignoring, pacmans going up in weight and theyre testing if he can do it and did it but it was so abrupt by then so they went down at 140 because hatton was there, he was the best and in his best @ 140. what they saw then was remarkable and they thought why not go higher again at ww, oscar was easy, so they picked a big name in cotto, he was the champ. again they were at a situation where theyre unsure if pacman can do it with a marquee name and a marquee fighter, so theyve asked for a concession of 4lbs but the only weight cotto can give out is 2lbs so 145 was set. manny is going up5lbs from his last recent fight while cotto is going down just 1lb. i dont know really why i should explain this when i know as ignorant as *****s are they are also blind as a bat. pacquiao never floyded anyone, he was only busy scaling new heights carreerwise .Comment
