Richard Schaefer wants Lucian Bute vs Bernard Hopkins

Despite a 14-month layoff and his 44 years, Bernard Hopkins looked sharp in a unanimous decision victory over Enrique Ornelas in what might be Hopkins' final appearance in his hometown of Philadelphia.

Golden Boy CEO Richard Schaefer has another idea. He'd like to see Hopkins go down to super middleweight and go on the road to Montreal to face titlist Lucian Bute, who knocked out Ornelas' brother, Librado Andrade, in a title defense last week.

"Bernard never won a super middleweight title, and the way Bute draws, we could do 50,000 at the Olympic Stadium."

Hopkins is taking a huge risk if he decides to fight Lucian Bute. Bute should beat Hopkins.

Would be an intriguing styles clash. It's within Hopkins' capabilities to win it so I'd be in favour of the fight being made but I think I'd have to pick Bute to win.

I hate to say it but Hopkins' win over Pavlik is slightly decieving and I think he could be more or less done as a world champion level boxer. I think he knows this too, what with his resistance to a Chad Dawson bout and talk of facing the easy target Roy Jones.

hmmmm me likes!!!! I wanted Dawson-Hopkins, but Dawson's got a couple options out there, Bute doesn't. good deal for both parties imo, could be a very interesting fight. I still like the old man

I think Bute could beat Hopkins at this stage of Hopkins' career.

Of course he does. All everyone in Bernards camp wants is for him to fight smaller guy and guys who can't punch back.

I'm starting to feel the same way. Then again, B-Hop may have not taken Ornales that serious and he was coming off a layoff. Training for Bute or Chad would be alot more serious.

Hopkins will get DQ'ed inside of 5 rounds if he fights Bute in Canada.
