Shame on you Hopkins. As for the people saying this was a premature stoppage, you are ridiculous. The ref stopped the fight at the right moment. It's kind of strange that none of the puches were landing: still, we could see Jones wobbling at the end of the first unanswered flurrish when the ref separated them. Jones wobbled to the ropes, Green continued to "punch gloves" and the ref stopped the fight. It was clear it was just a matter of seconds before a big punch got through or that Jones would just crumble under the fury of the attack. The biggest lesson of the day I think is that Jones can't take a punch anymore. I think I could have taken that punch Green landed. If Jones fights Hopkins, he's facing real danger, because he's going to get ko'ed for the 4th time. Jones should be stripped of his licence. I don't want to see his become another McClellan or embarrass himself like he did today. Shame on you Hopkins.
As for Hopkins, he knows that a rematch with Roy is (I should say WAS) his biggest payday with the least amount of risk. Of course he still wants that fight and I can't really say I blame him. Easy
Roy is done and I think he may finally realize it. It just seems like all the greats have to learn that the hard way.Comment

Hopkins comments on Jones fight.
I think that this is the very first time I've ever agreed with Hopkins. I watched that 1st rd twice, very carefully on youtube, and could easily see that the damaging blow was at the back of the neck, and that Jones was or had recovered, and the vast majority of the punches, except for 2-3 body blows, hit Jones' gloves. The fight should not have been stopped then, since Jones was recovering well.
He just had not reached the stage of punching back yet. Green was "flurrying" to create the spectacle of an overwhelmed fighter, to get it stopped by the ref.Comment

Jones should've punched back...the man didn't even through a single jab in almost a minute.Comment

not as bad as 'austraila is in europe' but in the froch-taylor fight the commentator said froch won his amateur bronze in 'belfast, england' which is my hometown and is actually in northern ireland, another case of uneducated americans.Comment
