    shannon briggs is back!

im interested in seeing briggs fight again.hes 38 friday & always had power & decent skills but couldnt stay away from the fridge.if he can get down to 250-260 i might take him seriously.he may have a couple of big fights left but im not convinced hw can make a legit title run.nice name to add to a resume if you beat him.

Great so he's gonna fight really well for a round or two and then gas out so he can weeze his way to a boring decision.

Joe, I've always believed [as have a lot of others including Manny Steward] that a Briggs in shape and in form could beat Wladimir Klitschko. The problem is that Briggs got so big he threw any chance he had to fight Wladimir out the window. He may well deserve some slack as he's had a lot of problems to overcome, but in reality a lot of it is surely his own fault as well. The guy was exceptionally explosive, powerful and quick a few years ago. All he really has now is size and power. Unless he's been training very hard, which I doubt.

Briggs had a lot of tools, but things didn't seem to go his way when he fought in the fights that mattered. It may have been partly due to bad luck, but part of the blame probably rests with him as well. Someone like him will always have a chance with that sort of size and power, but unless he turns back the clock a few years, I don't see him challenging for a title again.

He was supposed to fight at some casino here in AZ just a few weeks ago, he did a radio interview promoting the hell out of it a few days prior. But it was one of those "card subject to change" piles of bull****, and that's exactly what happened. They announced that he wouldn't be fighting at the last minute. Lo and behold he's giving a radio interview the next morning on the same station and talking about some ****** injury he had during his entire training camp. He probably knew it the whole time he was giving the first interview but didn't say **** so he could sell the place out and bail out with a chunk of the money. If he did play it like that, then he's a ****ing tool for ripping the fans off.
