Yes, I think Roy Jones' resume is a bit overrated, but that doesn't mean he could never take a punch.
James Toney had to lose 48lbs in 6 weeks just to make weight for that fight,he was a walking corpse,HBO even said they had never seen anything like it.
He lost 48lbs and then put 17lbs back on in 24 hours after the weigh in lol,not Roys fault and he went out there and did his thing but that version of Toney was a disgrace and deserved an ass kicking.
Look at Tarver & Johnson, they aint no big hitters yet almost killed Roy with one shot,if they were huge punchers then fair enough but they never were.

Finally, we can put the whole "He was coming down in weight" Nonsense to bed.

Roy IN HIS PRIME was knocked out by the mediocre Tarver and the mediocre Johnson.

Okay, cue plenty of responses filled with polemic and revisionist history.....
Doesn't even matter because you couldn't even hit Jones in his prime.

You're right, Tarver and Johnson weren't big hitters, but Toney was and I'd argue that even in his drained shape he was more of a puncher than Tarver and Johnson. Toney landed some flush shots and never wobbled Jones. I think the loss to Tarver was just all those flush shots finally catching up to him due to age and what not.

Let's just say I agreed with you that Roy Jones Jr. didn't have much of a chin. Wouldn't that basically be admitting that Jones' defense was so good that out of 59 bouts he was only ever hurt 3 times? That would amount to saying that you could only KO Jones Jr. when his defense suffered for being shot and past his prime.

I wasn't a professional fighter back then nor am I now, so your "Point" is mute.

i think floyd mayweather is a carbon copy of roy jones.

manny pacquiao will probably ko him and his career will never recover.

              pacquiao-mayweather will probably look like tarver-jones 2.

I don't think Roy was in his prime at 35.

He was prime just like Calzaghe was prime at the same age.

                      that goes without saying.

carlos baldomir makes clinton woods look like archie moore in there.
