Cotto came in at 146 against Clottey. That's a ONE lbs. difference from 145. We can all make a deal. Williams comes in at 155 which would also be a ONE lbs. difference and we pretend this thread never happened.Comment

The most likely reason is that Martinez didn't want to put his belt on the line at 154. He can lose to Williams at 160 and go back to his belts at 154 directly after.
Williams doesn't weigh 160 anyway, he comes in around 156,157 for middleweight fights, so he's not going to have any real size/weight advantage over Martinez. He might want to get used to the weight, as he plans on fighting for Pavlik's title at 160 in his next fight.
The guy fought Margarito at 147, Winky Wright at 160, and was 100% game to fight Kelly Pavlik at 160. To claim that he's a ***** makes you lose all credibility. PW is everything that's right with boxing.Comment

Because Williams was well on his way in training for Pavlik, altering his regime to lose weight after perhaps weight training to fit into 160 better would have comprimised his ability to fight.
Its harder to move down than it is to move up in weight.Comment

cuz he can....making Sergio Martinez move up to 160?
after saying he can still move fight at 147-160, why can't 154?
dont give me the 'he trained for 160' crap...you claim superiority in 3 divisions, prove your ****...maybe he's afraid of a fully effective Martinez at jr MW
why is Paul Williams being a *****?Comment

Clottey fights at 147, not 154. So Paul was willing to give a little and come down to make the fight given the fact that Clottey would be coming up. All sergio had to do was come up a little bit and he was willing to.
Its not brainscience.Comment
