i have hundreds of amateur fights and a pretty decent record i would suggest to you take up mma not boxing these gys have been fighting there whole lifes the learning curve is sick.

This is not for personal use but for studies. :-)
The MMA vs. Boxing debate all comes down to personal prefrences, at least I believe so.
