Anyone remember this Miguel Cotto?

I remember watching his fight against Pinto live and after the fight i remember clearly how Barry McGuigan said they need to steer Hatton clear of this guy, And how dangerous this guy is and how he telegraph is punches.

The thing is Cotto came to a point where his body outgrew 140 and they kept him there too long for people like Corley,Torres and even Maglinaggi to put a dent in his confidence but as soon as he moved up he became a different fighter until the Margarito fight, Cotto has taken too much punishment over the last 4 years.

Judah, Mosley, Margarito, Clottey would take something out of anyone at WW if anyone is brave enough to fight all 4 guys and thats one of the main reason why i think he wouldnt beat Pacquiao.

Cotto was always a beast. Even when he fought Pac. He was like a scarred battle worn tiger. He wasn't as ferocious, but he was more experienced and wiser. Cotto is a smarter fighter now.

I laugh at people who think he can't fight elites anymore. Cotto will beat Mosley up if they fight again. I still think he'd destroy Mayweather since his style is bad news for Floyd.

Maybe some people forget how much a beast Cotto was at 140, weight drained and when he was healthy at 140. He was quick, strong and rentless. Look at this fight againest Kelson Pinto, Cotto was straight beast.

Even though he still has speed at 147, he looks like he lost a step or two since his 140 days. But he was a beast back in the day.

Same fighter to my eyes. The difference is the opponent he faces. Some people are just too young to notice it's the same fighter doing the same things. Cotto gets hit, Cotto misses, Pinto doesn't make him pay. Pacquiao does.

one of my fav Cotto fights. Cotto has improved his deffense and jab but needs to do something about that stamina, not sure if its weight related, all the partying catching up to him or what but at this level, been strong for 5 or 6 rds don't cut it.

Taking nothing away from Pacquiao who i think is a beast and would have beaten Cotto at any time in cotto's career but Pac would not be walking through Cotto's shots like that if that if this was 2 years ago.

For me Cotto isnt fresh and i wouldnt pick him over Berto or Mosley at this stage of his career, Sometime you can take too much damage even when you win, Just like Pac taking some punches from Cotto might not help him if he had to fight Mayweather next.

Uhm well, Pinto wasnt that great to begin with tho....undefeated, yes, but against who? You can see here he doesnt have an harmful jab, sticks his chin in the air, often out of balance, wide arm punches, he only has a straight right but he looks afraid to throw it against cotto, hes not really precise.

Cotto, yes he was a bit faster, but the main difference is mental...when he gets hit here he doesnt care, he KNOWS hes gonna win. But still, as you can see here, he was getting hit A LOT, against a solid but nothing special fighter.

I dont think it's so much a stamina problem as just bad style matchups for Cotto. He just has problems dealing with high workrates.

Same problem that Juan Manuel Marquez has problems with. Marquez had problems when Pacqiao, Chris John, and Juan Diaz upped the pace even though his conditioning is top notch.

Cotto has gone and won fights going the full 12 on several occassions. Just has trouble with fighters with a ludicrous pace. He had problems when Judah upped the pace. He had problems when Pacquiao and Margarito didnt let him set the pace.

Well people like their own emotions get the better of them, I see a lot of Cotto KO judah and Mayweather could only beat him by decision but people forget that Judah put a lot of dent into cotto in that fight while Mayweather hardly got punished in his fight with Judah.
