Guzman-Funeka Judges Blasted By Promoter Lou DiBella

Boxing should get rid of these envelope judges and adopt video replay scoring system...The sport of boxing continues to produce some shocking decisions. Ali Funeka, in my opinion, won a dominating twelve round decision over Joan Guzman at the Pepsi Coliseum in Quebec City. The majority of the viewing audience, the live audience, and the guys at HBO were left with their mouths open when the judges came back with a majority draw. The scores were 114-114, 114-114 and 116-112 for Funeka. [details]Comment

I too was a bit stunned by the draw. However, all of the people that I watched the fight with agreed with me. Ali Funeka did not win the fight so much as he was basically handed the bout. That clash of heads should have been counted a clash of heads after the 3rd round. Guzman had a tough draw for 10 rounds with a busted brow and a busted nose. In a rematch Guzman would outclass Funeka just look at the first 2 rounds, Funeka was landing about 8 punches per round. I don't think that Guzman fought enough to merit a draw, but then again maybe Funeka with the advantages in his favor didn't do enough himself to merit the win, so it goes both ways.Comment

Blame it on Canadian socialized medicine.
Two things come to mind:
1. The blame lies with Canada's socialized/universal health care. If it were a better system those 2 Canadian judges could have had their vision corrected before the fight.
2. IF Cotto v Pacquiao would have went the distance, those 2 Canadian judges would have probably also concluded the contest a draw.
911: What is the emergency?
Me: I just witnessed an assault and a ROBBERY!
911: Where sir?
Me: Canada ...Comment
