Guzman-Funeka Judges Blasted By Promoter Lou DiBella

The sport of boxing continues to produce some shocking decisions. Ali Funeka, in my opinion, won a dominating twelve round decision over Joan Guzman at the Pepsi Coliseum in Quebec City. The majority of the viewing audience, the live audience, and the guys at HBO were left with their mouths open when the judges came back with a majority draw. The scores were 114-114, 114-114 and 116-112 for Funeka. [details]

This was as bad as Packy/Cotto w/out the ref stoppage and they make it a draw????

          WTF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Easily one of the worst robberies I've ever seen.

All I can say is that I was truly shocked. The fight could have been stopped. It was a dominating performance by Funeka against a Guzman that was unable to absolutely anything in the second half of the fight. I didnt even pay attention to the decision until my boy came up to me and told me it had been declared a draw. This is a real robbery. Way more than the Texas incident. Something has to be done to establish some sort of mechanism of accountability for blatently incompetent judges. I don't want to say this was some sort of Golden Boy conspiracy but jesus, what the hell was that. Immediate rematch and Funeka will destroy a Guzman that just doesnt have it anymore.

DiBella is right on the money about this. How anyone gave more than 3 rounds to Guzman is truly stunning.

I wish Dibella would have said this for Malignaggi-Diaz and Froch-Dirrell.
