Ali Funeka and Joan Guzman Ends in a Horrible Draw

Funeka dominated that fight...from an action/damage standpoint and from a scoring standpoint. Guzman won a maximum of 4 rounds and that's being generous to the guy. He just didn't have it tonight against a difficult opponent. The headbutt was unfortunate but I think he would have been battered regardless because Funeka was busting him up with that jab all night.
HBO announcers or no HBO announcers, Funeka got jobbed in a fight where he was clearly the superior fighter. 117-111 is a more accurate score than 114-114.Comment

According to Ricans....Cotto fights with a busted nose....OHHHH HE'S A WARRIOR!!! Guzman does the same and he's overrated. Typical!!!Comment

Guzman's stamina wasn't where it was suppose to be due to the busted nose. I never seen Guzman tire in a fight bofore; never and Funeka never attacked Guzman's body either. Guzman didn't have the energy to move/ avoid/ get more offense. I watched the bout with 2 other people and I was quick to notice the blood rushing out of Guzman's nose. I only gave Guzman 4 rounds. I strongly disagree with those who say Guzman is done, I believe he'll come back stronger and he'll be more active. I've taken this as a postive a good ol wake up call. Did you notice that around the 10th round and up Guzman's punches had no snap to them? That was more due to the busted nose. Too say he would have gotten battered regardless, have to disagree man.Comment

I misssed the fights tonight, so I'll have to catch them on HBO2 tommorrow. This is the second time that a Golden Boy fighter has got a gift decision on a Boxing After Dark card if what most people are saying is true. Their promotional outfit needs to be taken a look at now. The D Hopkins-Forbes fight is another robbery of their's.Comment

Guzman was doing a nice job early on using his reflexes to avoid punches and making the size differential work in his favor. The hooks to the body were working nice and I loved how he was climbing the ladder, if you will.
Funny someone mentioned the HBO announcers, because a lot of what I heard early on was them praising Guzman for his work (rightfully so I suppose) while largely ignoring the constant jabs coming back from Funeka. It was only after the third round when that jab was finding the mark consistently did they talk about the "momentum switch". By that time Guzman was visibly wearing the effects of said jab on his mug.
I have never seen Guzman really tire too much in a fight either. I've been following him since his last days at 122 and never noticed much of a stamina issue. I think his stamina problems tonight were a result of inactivity, the busted nose and most importantly the strong opponent he had beating on him all night. I thought his punches lost steam halfway through the fight. They were of the clubbing variety and Guzman isn't the hardest hitter anyway. The only shot he had was to catch Funeka with his chin in the air.
I don't think Guzman is done either. I think that's an absurd notion. Speaking about Funeka battering Guzman, I was touching on the subject of that headbutt occurring. I said I thought it was unfortunate that it happened, but Guzman still had the busted nose and was on the business end of the Funeka jab previous to that mishap.Comment

I was robbed. I placed $30 on Funeka @ +220, I was like KA-CHING when 12th rnd ended! I knew they've fixed it as soon as the first score was announced @ 114 even.
**** YOU GOLDEN BOY PROMOTIONS!!!
**** YOU RICHARD SHAEFER!!!
**** YOU OSCAR DELA HOYA!!!
Guzman should go back down to 122lbs, he doesn't have any freaking power at SF and LW...Comment

I give Funeka the last 10 rds!!! How the hell they scored it a Draw??? We need to put the names of this criminal Judges is the Front pages of all boxing websites!!! Put their Pictures & label them Criminals. So when a Fighters find out that these corrupt judges will judge his fights, he can ask for replacements. I just wanna make sure these judges never get a Job again!!!Comment
