I can fully understand why Shane is still top.

But personally I think Pacquiao and Floyd are 1# and 2#. I'm not sure how Shane will do, against Berto. He's facing a 1 year layoff and he's no spring chicken and Berto isn't slow either.

How often is Welterweight not the best division in boxing?

Certainly there are always strong periods elsewhere. For much of this decade, fans were treated to magnificent action around Featherweight and Lightweight. Even Light Heavyweight had a hot streak for a few years. [details]
I don't like the way Donovan in his statement under Cotto about his opponents (Pacquiao), quoting Donovan "How ironic that both Cotto's losses comes against opponents who have been subsequently accused of cheating." & "Pacquiao his incredible run has been aided by illegal substance." I respect Donovan's views in other comments but riding such idiotic hersay from unhealthy minds like the Mayweather's comments on Pacquiao about the use of illegal substance w/out any proof, is simply damaging & irresponsible...Such a low level understanding w/ a non sense issue but still using it to beautify his comments is disrespectful & outrageous....Such an expert like Donovan can compare & weigh easily between sensible & crazy things, like comments from crazy people like the Mayweathers than comments from the strict Nevada Athletic Commission...Mayweather Sr. has already apologized when he learned that a lawsuit was filed against him of the damages done w/c involves a huge amount...

So issues about these Pacquiao's cheating need to be stop as soon as possible, if there were doubts then ask & question the Nevada Commission the body who conducted drug testing in their state, plain & simple ...

        ABOUT RING RATINGS:
Fighters recognized as champions by The Ring are rated at the top of their division, with the top 10 contenders listed below.

Championship vacancies can be filled by winning a box-off between The Ring's number-one and number-two contenders, or, in certain instances, a box-off between our number-one and number-three contenders.

The only three occasions when a fighter will lose his championship status are when he retires, moves to another weight division, or is defeated in a championship bout.

The Ring Ratings are compiled by the magazine's editorial board, with the participation of The Ring Ratings Panel of boxing journalists from around the world.

The article is blemished by Donovan's giving value to Floyd Sr.'s false accusation of Pacquiao being on illegal substance. And yet, Donovan doesn't mention Shane's admission to have taken it. And how about Cotto's win over Mosley?

The reason why the welterweight division suddenly comes alive is because of Pacquiao's entry. When he was at featherweitht, it was that weight which was exciting. And so did the junior light weight and later on the jr welterweight.

How does Margarito's year long Inactivity completely expell him from the top ten, while Shane Mosley doesn't so much as slip a spot when his last fight was against Tony? Completely biased

Its a new list though and Shane now has a fight while Tony doesnt. If Shane didnt have a fight lined up then they wouldve done something different

I agree. Donovan's article is an irresponsible reporting. It is uncalled for. It is even wanting of even an iota of merit. It is hearsay as the same is based on Ape mayweather's statement, an ape who holds nothing except to descredit pacquiao because pacquiao always make him look like a fool in his prediction always that Manny will loss and make him more fool in the brutal KO of hatton and the annihilation of cotto. Donovan should be aware that manny was tested negative of any illegal substance. Donovan should be admonished by this unwanted remarks that tarnish the reputation of team pacquiao.

Donovan should be hanged upside down.

                  and especially you...

... read a little closer, you'll see that I'm not lending ANY credibility to the rumors, more so asking if Cotto himself will elect to believe them in efforts to mentally get over the beatings he caught.

Prior to the Jennings fight, he remained relatively mum on the issue. It wasn't until Arum started talking about a Margarito rematch in Puerto Rico or Mexico did Cotto go vocal with his thoughts, further exploited in 24/7.

What I'm asking is if he'll take the same approach with the Pacquiao fight, since so many others are already falsely accusing him of steroid use. If you can find a way to justify/discredit the loss, you're telling yourself that you didn't really lose.

That's all I'm asking about Cotto, and wondering aloud how he'll mentally recover from this fight - because my best guess is that he doesn't recover.

It's also worth noting that the same Nevada commission who emphatically declares Pacquiao to be substance-free is also firm on their stance that there wasn't any reason to suspect foul play o/b/o Margarito prior to the Cotto fight.

How odd that we use the same comission as an alibi for Pacquiao, yet find them to act as a shill for Arum when it comes to Margarito. Pacquiao's clean, yet Margarito was cheating all along, damn the reportings of any commission prior to the Shane fight.

I offer this to further emphasize my point that I don't lend stock to either having cheated prior to the Cotto fight.
