He said something about that people just cant bring themselves to think that a guy from the present is better than a great from the past but its true. Thats how I always feel too. I think even people right now always overrate guys from the past and downplay guys from today. Its not fair. It just seems like they are way better because those were boxing's glory years. Way back in the day there was no football & basketball. It was only baseball and boxing. Then later in the 80's boxing was still super popular because it was always on National TV. If there was not football & basketball now and all the fights were on National TV then people would talk alot different about these guys. Its not fair to them to always downplay what they do and hype up guys from the past. Pac, Floyd, Shane, Toney, Hopkins, RJ, Lewis, Holyfield, Lopez, and others could easily compete in any era. Give them there props
But fighters of today body start breaking down at 40 fights. They managed to fight 200 fights in the old days, also less weightclasses and they fought 15rds there is nothing overrated about the old school fighters. People really overrate the fighters of today...

But, again whoever says Pac is on Sugar Ray Robinson level or even top 10 all time is somebody who don't know the history and shouldn't be taken seriously... I just sometimes try to ignore comments like that and laugh at it...

      sick bastards
What are you talking about. I thought you were taking this the wrong way by your previous comments. Seriously man, did you read the opening post? I dont mean "literaly kill him". I just mean if he totally dominates him and the fight is not close at all

If Floyd beats Pac, Pac would still rate highter than Floyd on ATG list.

By beating Pac doesn't you also beat Mosley, Cotto, Margarito, Clottey and Williams.

If we go on your logic, Tarver is higher than Jones on ATG list?

DLT, i'll be honest, i read the title and usually just skim thru your novels

if PAC gets dominated then he gets dominated...some will say it was a stylistic matchup for manny while some floyd fans will think PBF automatically inherits all of PAC's accomplishments

IDK man, thats apples & oranges if you ask me. There isnt really anything different about 40 fights & 200 fights. Its just that back in the day they fought more often. Its still over the same period. I mean when guys 1st come to the pros alot of them have 10 fights per year and in the amatures they have more than that. Im saying that if they wanted to then they could easily have fights. I mean, what is sparring? Its not a real fight but they could just have real fights instead of sparring. To me you cant put that on a fighter or say that makes him less. Thats just the way the game has evolved for safety and financial reasons. The same with 15 round fights. You dont think Pac & Floyd can go 15? Even if you have a 15 round fight, it doesnt mean its going 15. KO artist would stop all there guys before 12 got there anyways. I do agree that Pac isnt on a Ray Robinson level though

Again dude, what are you talking about? I never said anything. My whole point of the thread was to see what everyone else thought. I never gave my opinion on it. With that being said, you are insane if you think that Pac is RJ and Floyd is Tarver, e****ally if Floyd killed Pac

TS i think it's an interesting question, i wonder that too: if Floyd dominates, will they forget the way he cherry picked and give him his props? Will they still say Floyd fought a smaller/ unmotivated/ constipated Pacquiao?

I think Pacquiao's ATG spot is cemented in the eyes of real boxing experts. If JMM is a respected ATG, Pacquiao is hands down a top 20 ATG.

TS's point is interesting coz he puts the emphasis on two excessive attitudes in boxing:

-people not wanting to give any prop to Floyd Mayweather Jr. Floyd cherry picked but also had his great performances and fought good opposition. He's no Sven Ottke.

-people going with the flow and just caring about the flashy stuff. I knew Manny was a great fighter before the DLH fight. Most " fans" don't and see the DLH fight as a bigger achievement than the Barrera wins.

As I said by Floyd beating Pac that doesn't mean he has a better resume than Pac. Floyd been doing that for a long time at the WW by waiting everyone to lose. That's like Lucian Bute beating the winner of the Super Middleweight tourney and then retire.
