Ever wonder why Cotto neutralized the speed of Mosley and Judah but not that of PAC?!

There were two major factors that put this fight in Manny's favor. The first, Manny later admitted that the punches hurt, but that he needed to pretend they didn't in order to get into Cotto's head. Secondly, Manny's power pushed it over the edge into the downfall for Cotto. I've watched the first four rounds at least 3 or 4 times now, and aside from the second and the two knockdowns Cotto was doing a very good job when he was boxing. However, I didn't see it till after the Manny fight, but Cotto backs off if he feels his power doesn't affect you. Granted, this is only after the Marg fight but its there now and Roach/Manny did a great job exploiting it.
In the Clottey fight, when I saw Cotto backing off and trying to counter it may have been because of the eye and it was his best way at getting Clottey. And I still feel thats very true, however, I still feel it also has to do with Cotto backing off if he feels he can't hurt you. Sadly, Marg put this into his head IMO, and I'm not sure why Cotto went into this type of thinking. He's never had the power of a one punch KO which can change a fight like Manny does, instead he just wears you down slowly and breaks your will. If he had kept this up in the Manny fight, I feel he would have won.
But... Cotto just stopped doing this after the second knockdown. Granted it wasn't just the fact that he didn't feel he could hurt Manny, of which Manny did a great job of making it look like they weren't hurting, AND the fact that Cotto and his corner were far too confident in their power, and the lack of confidence in Manny's chin led to what happened, along side Manny's own power. Cotto had Manny trapped on the ropes and hit him with a solid right, instead of trying to box again or put on a more aggressive attack when Manny was trapped, he chased him with OVER aggression and threw a sloppy combo, got caught and hurt.
I still firmly believe that Cotto can beat Manny, if he had stuck to his game plan of boxing Manny, mixing up his counter/attack abilities and most of all, stayed mentally strong. But once that beautiful counter left uppercut by Manny landed it shot Cotto right back into the Marg fight. His corner didn't help matters either, both in training and during the fight by saying "we can do it, we can come back" after the knockdown. Also saying "All he has is a left." Terrible corner talk, they should have expected Manny to be stronger AND faster, as I'm sure they did with Mosley, and used a combination of Cotto's skills to win that fight. And when Cotto got hurt the last thing you need to say is "We can do it" you need to say, don't worry about it, just this time box more and don't force the attack if the ropes aren't close. Jab, to keep him from pressuring you, if the opportunity presents itself attempt to trap him and get some work done on the ropes. Instead the corner panicked and it threw any chance of Cotto winning out the window.
I hate typing this because its going to be viewed as me taking away from Manny's win, it isn't. He did what he was supposed to, to complete perfection. He made Cotto feel like he wasn't hurting him, he took advantage of Cotto's over aggression as I'm sure they were expecting, and most importantly, he didn't take his foot off the gas when he say he "had Cotto." That being said, I still think the fight was there for Cotto to take, but Manny did not only what he should have but exceeded what I thought he would/could to do a real WW.
BTW, if I didn't make any sense I'm drunk as hell and about to pass out, so try to decipher what I just put if it didn't make much sense.Comment

nothing to do with precision IMO.........Judah is more accurate with that uppercut, which is the punch that hits cotto the most......manny's a punching machine.........cotto just couldnt handle the intensity......were shane and judah shot ones shot at a time, pacquiao threw 3.....and pac wasnt worried about anything coming back, like judah was......
so yeah, the main reason was just chin(over judah) and punch output(over both)
well the other main reason is cotto is slower now....Comment

I do not believe that Cotto can beat Mosley now. I disagree with you.
I don't think that Cotto cn take 12 rounds of mosley's punches. That Margarito fight seems to have sapped Miguel's punch resistance and durability.Comment

yep, if cotto didn't get on his bike he'd have gotten KOed.Comment
