    New trainer for Kessler?

Kessler has had the same trainer for 17 years. I personally don't think that he is good enough to push Kessler to the limit and again make him a world champion. Your thoughts?

    I really hope so.

If he was willing to go to America for three weeks before the fight, then that's a good sign that he may be willing to go there for a full training camp. IMO Manny Steward would do a good job with him.

At this point no. Guys don't do too well when they wait this late to change trainers. They need to try new methods to deal with lateral movement. I don't think Kessler has the potential to learn that now.

I agree. I dont even know who his trainer is. But he showed no signs of improvement from the Calzaghe fight against Ward. In fact, he may have even got worse. He still fights in straight lines, has no head movement and showed a complete inability to adjust which implies a lack of tactical advice from the corner. I dunno who he could hire....maybe Manny Steward?

I have said for a long time that my concerns with Kessler have been centred on the effects his legal and management problems would have on his form. Legal problems weigh on the mind ,you can't train properly with that garbage around you. He has also recently been fighting low level opposition and not been very active. Ward is also a very good boxer any flaw in his preparation would get shown up. A lot of people have said the real Kessler did not turn up on fight night and I am certain his recent legal problems had a lot to do with it. Technically I have never been impressed with Kessler's footwork and movement as pointed out he fights in straight lines with no real lateral movement but 17 years with one coach is a long time and his technique should have been ironed out long ago. It may be too late to teach an old dog new tricks. Did Ricky Hatton really do himself any favours firing Billy Graham and going with Mayweather? Hatton is technically poorer than Kessler. Dirrel made Froch look bad should he get a new trainer? Would he be better if he did? I don't think so. Ward looks very good to me I think you will find when he fights Froch and Abraham he may well make them look one dimensional also.

It fear it would only be like Hattons switch to Mayweather Sr. It might be to late for Kessler to seriously adapt his style alltough i was appalled at the complete lack of tactical advice or a plan B from his corner. On top of that Kessler seemed totally stuck with the idea of jab to the body followed by a right hook. Truly one dimensional effort from Kessler.

New trainer? Might be too late to make a real difference, if you ask me. Three lame fights within a two year time frame, in between having to go through a ton of legal crap -- that's enough to kill a fighters' mental focus and blunt his progress, and I feel the damage is done. Now he gets dropped into the most important fights of his career, and we should have seen what was ahead. Since 2007 (Calzaghe fight) he should have fought at least four top-class opponents. I don't see how you can stay sharp while going through legal hell with your management and fighting the Perdomo's and Haussler's of this world.
