I have watch the majority of Mayweather's old fights and I must say that Pacquiao can beat him. Here are the reasons:
1. Mayweather's main arsenal is his left-hand - Pacquiao's last four fights were: southpaw (Diaz), converted southpaw (Oscar), pseudo-southpaw (left hand dominant Hatton), and left-hand jabber converted southpaw (Miguel Cotto). Manny Pacquiao who is born ambidextrous (adept in using both hands in his day-to-day activities), seems to be stronger when fighting left hand dominant fighters.
2. Mayweather is a single punch counter-puncher - The only way to beat Pacquiao is with counter combos. Marquez threw combos when he fought Pacquiao. But even then you can see that Pacquiao is using feints, countering the counter-puncher. Pacquiao will get hit by Mayweather, but Manny's combo output will be more than Mayweather's single punch outputs.
3. Mayweather tires his opponent - Mayweather being a defensive fighter leans back and fight backwards. Some of his opponent becomes tired of playing cat and mouse by mid-rounds. Pacquiao has a reputation of having freakish stamina reservoir and a great chin. Manny will keep chasing for 12 rounds, taking Mayweather single punch outputs and punching back with more combos. Pacquiao is a throwback to an era where rounds are more than a dozen.
4. Mayweather speed is defensive - Pacquiao is the fastest offensive boxer in the world. His combination of relentless hand speed, quick feet and tremendous ring generalship is unequalled. Don't expect Pacquiao's speed to diminish due to weight. Remember that since 2004, Pacquiao is used to entering the ring as essentially a welterweight (146 lbs. during his 1st Marquez fight).
5. Mayweather is not physically big - Pacquiao took the punches of sturdier offensive fighters and wasn't knocked down. You have to remember that Pacquiao spars with middleweights, some of which he knocked down.
6. Mayweather Shoulder Rolls - When on the defensive, Mayweather enters the Shoulder Roll mode. Pacquiao eye is so sharp that he sees opening in the tiniest movements. Pacquiao moves in and out, side to side, throwing trajectory angle power punches while moving at an unpredictable direction at an uncanny speed. Manny Pacquiao is not afraid to get hit, just to get his punches in. So while his opponent was throwing their punches, Pacquiao was simultaneously slipping his combos.
7. Mayweather is older at 32 years old - The Floyd Mayweather of 135 lbs. is not the same Mayweather of 147 lbs. You can count with your hands, how many combos he throws in a 12 round fight.
Pacquiao on the other hand, has improved a lot since moving up from 135 lbs. Pacquiao is at the peak of his physical prime.
