If this fight is not in Vegas and you have it in a stadium, it will get a great undercard. There's no way the promoters go through all the trouble to make this the greatest boxing event in a long time, only to give it a ****ty undercard.

This fight is the Ali-Frazier of this generation. You can rest assured that it will be held in the biggest venue possible and Arum and Schaffer will figure out some creative ways to maximize the profit margin. Schaffer did a brilliant job of that with the Mayweather/Marquez fight and it will happen here. Don't be surprised if we see everything from Mayweather/Pacquaio bobbleheads to cups to t-shirts, hats and everything else on sale. Every major athlete and movie star in the country will be there and it wouldn't surprise me if a congressmen and senators show up. I bet Jose Sulamain is probably crying his eyes out right now because of the sanctioning fee that he WON'T be getting.

I posted this on Boxrec as to why it probably won't be in a stadium
When Klitschko fought Chagaev in the Schalke stadium with 60,000, the tiered tickets were $50 and the floor more but the way it worked out the total income from ticket sales would have been about 5 mill.
Now compare that to De La Hoya Mayweather where ticket sales were $19 million.
If Dallas Cowboys Stadium held it they would need ticket sales to average at least $200 to compete with Vegas and I doubt anyone would pay that much for the poor view you would get there, despite it being such a big event. To get a huge audience they need some non-boxing fans to be there and at those prices I doubt they'd bring them in.
At the MGM it will be like De La Hoya Mayweather where the majority of tickets are $2000 and the casinos will pay through the roof for it. It's just Schaefer and Arum messing around to get Vegas to stump up the cash

As someone who plans to go see this fight live, I hope it is in Vegas. There is so much more stuff to do there in the days before and after the fight.
Dallas sucks entertainment-wise. Although the big ass TV they have at the stadium would make it so that everyone gets a great view of the action even if you're in the nosebleed seats.
They better give us a kick ass undercard to go along with Pacquiao-Mayweather too. With a fight this big it would be embarassing if they throw the likes of Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. or Alfonso Gomez out there again.

Pacquaio/Cotto was crappy. Mayweather/Marquez had a decent undercard, but not great. All of the others in the last 10 years have been crappy.
If this fight actually is held in a large venue like a stadium, why go through all that trouble and give it a bad undercard? The promoters need to take advantage of this megafight and make it a great night of boxing for everyone. Just like the Super Bowl, make it an event where everyone can enjoy the entire night, and not for just 36 minutes.
I guess I shouldn't say that there will be a great undercard if it's in a stadium, but I hope there is because it would be great for the sport.
By the way, when I say great undercard, I'm talking about something like Clottey vs. Quintana, which was on the Williams-Pavlik undercard.Last edited by sceneboxing; 11-24-2009, 05:49 PM.
