the fact of the matter is...Mayweather was layed off for almost 2 year, Marquez last PPV did 100K.....

Cotto with a huge fan base and is the WW champ, fought the #1 P4P fighter in the world...just came off Maybe knock out of the year....has an entire country behind him and barely beat out a retired fighter and a non PPV fighter....

Floyd Mayweather Sr has issued a scathing assessment of Manny Pacquiao's boxing technique, claiming that the Filipino "can't fight at all". Pacquiao became a seven-weight world champion by defeating Miguel Cotto in Las Vegas this month, but Mayweather Sr said he had been unimpressed by the performance.

"You know what I took away from the Cotto fight? Pacquiao can't fight at all, man," Mayweather Sr said. "That man don't move his head … when Cotto still had his wits and was ducking underneath and moving his head, Pacquiao couldn't touch him.

"Pacquiao couldn't hit me if I was asleep. He is strong and fast, but that man can't fight. He throws the same combination."

Pacquiao's victory over Cotto has prompted calls for a showdown with Floyd Mayweather Jr, and Mayweather Sr says his son would have nothing to fear.

"Lil' Floyd is miles ahead of Pacquiao in the skills department," he said. "If they make that fight, Lil' Floyd got something for him.

"Man, let me tell you something, man. [Pacquiao's trainer] Freddie Roach hasn't taught Pacquiao ****. That man still don't move his damn head and he's till drops his hands after he throws combinations.

"He can try that Superman **** of putting his hands in the air if he wants to; he would be flying all right. Pacquiao can't fight man, I'm telling you."

you're talking **** now after the cotto-pacman numbers have already come out....yea, it outsold mayweather-marquez, but it didn't do it in dramatic fashion, as most ppl thought it would.

i don't think anybody thought floyd-marquez would outsell pacman-cotto (for obvious reasons), but I DO REMEMBER people saying the fight would only do 400-500 K, and it did a million....overwhelming and surprising success.

NOBODY is surprised with cotto-pacman doing 1.25, but what IS surprising, is that mayweather-marquez was so close in terms of sales.

it's no wonder why thursday, you had roach screaming for a 60-40 split....
then, friday after the numbers came out, he was saying 50-50 get's the fight done....

The fact that a non-American is more popular than Floyd in not just America, but the world, drawing this much attention is a feat in itself.

Mayweather would never have gotten the popularity if not for fighting Hatton and Oscar. His two biggest wins. Mayweather's style is bad for boxing. People are leaving boxing for MMA because Floyd bores people. He has no killer instinct. He carried JMM to a decision. Pac KOd Cotto in the 12th. Thank goodness for Pacquiao for reversing that. People are now talking about boxing again like in the early 80s.

Go to any country that watches boxing and I bet they'll tell you they like Pacquiao more than they like Mayweather. Floyd's numbers are skewed. And he needed Oscar and Hatton to get him there.

Team Pac was hoping for HUGE #s vs Cotto....and it didnt work....they know this is a business and they were hoping to do 1.5 and up to have more power at negotiations....
