This is between his legit fight with Chris Eubank(1997) and nearly 10 years later Jeff Lacy (2006) who by all accounts is a bum but at the time was an undefeated contender that was someone that Joe should have fought. I'm going to comment on some of these but in reality all of these could easily have funny comments next to them:

    2006-03-04 168 Jeff Lacy (Bum/Never was)

    2005-09-10 Evans Ashira

2005-05-07 Mario Veit (notable because it took place in Germany)

2004-10-22 Kabary Salem (notable because it took place in Scotland which technically is another country lol. Also Calzaghe went down in round 4 and was headbutting intentionally and penalized for it.

2004-02-21 Mger Mkrtchyan (Great name. Who the ****? Also notable for being held in an ice rink in Wales).

2003-06-28 Byron Mitchell (Calzaghe down in the 2nd)

    2002-12-14 Tocker Pudwill

    2002-08-17 Miguel Angel Jimenez

    2002-04-20 Charles Brewer

2001-10-13 Will McIntyre (Notable for Denmark)

    2001-04-28 Mario Veit

    2000-12-16 Richie Woodhall

    2000-08-12 Omar Sheika

    2000-01-29 David Starie

    1999-06-05 Rick Thornberry

1999-02-13 Robin Reid (Many people think he LOST this fight. Regardless it was a close fight)

1998-04-25 Juan Carlos Gimenez Ferreyra (Ice Rink hahahaha)

    1998-01-24 Branko Sobot

1997-10-11 Chris Eubank (Weight drained, past his prime)

    ------------------------------------
I Did NOT make this list up folks. Note Calzaghe's Age when he fought Eubank all the way up through Jeff Lacy. Amazing.
    Excellent post, LC...

Calzaghe's charade of a legacy has been irrefutably damaged with Ward's overwhelming dominance of Kessler.

and looking back at those names...I'd be inclined to say that Charles Brewer is the best win on that list...

Eubank was in the condition you said and wasn't even Elite on a Global scale AT his best.... everyone knows Lacy was a hypejob and nothin' special....a former male model in Reid SHOULD have gotten the win against him...

so yep...the notably Philly worn, past prime, C+ version of Brewer might just be the biggest challenge/clearest WIN on that list...lol....incredible.

What a piece of **** undefeated record that joke has...

It's because of his ridiculous fans. Some who have made the following statements:
      • Joe Calzaghe is a top 30 ATG
      • Joe Calzaghe is a top 50 ATG
      • Joe Calzaghe could've beaten John Ruiz too if he wanted to
      • Mikkel Kessler is better than any Hopkins win

Seriously, I could go on. But it was maddening trying to explain to these nutsos that since Kessler hadn't done squat except beat a bunch of faded 168lbers, he wasn't much different from William Joppy. So, of course people are going to jump all over these fans once Kessler gets his a** handed to him.

Looks a lot like Hopkin's resume. Maybe he should have had a trilogy with Veit for completeness?

Maybe he should have taken on the LOSER of a title eliminator like Calzaghe did. Maybe he should have said a fighter was old and done and not worth fighting (Roy in his book) then fought him anyway years later when he was OLDER and more done. Or maybe he should have ducked Glen Johnson three times.

It's highly debatable he's top 100 but that was blasphemy as long as Kessler kept beating chumps. Somehow, most of these fans have disappeared since Ward made Kessler look like the robot he is.

LOL@ desprate Calzaghe fans using straw men about racism when they can't defend his pathetic boxing career.

At least Calzaghe wasn't the best 154lb champion that ever laced on a pair of gloves at 168lbs. We can give him that one, surely?

The dudes been gone for a year now. As ive pointed out in my own thread its dead simple to pull apart anyones resume. But I notice on this forum how people just cant seem to let it go with Calzaghe, theres much more to it than his average resume, otherwise there should be posts everyday about other fighters resumes.

Not even a Calzaghe fan by the way, all I say is his resume is not much different to Hopkins. You guys tear apart Calzaghes resume while elevating Hopkins resume, talk about double standards. Can I now assume you are going to make a thread about Hatton?
