Miguel Cotto's Return Eyed For June in New York

I just hope that Cotto doesn't fight Castillo. Because if he does, he's gonna get bashed by me. I'm suprised that Cotto isn't being mentioned as JMM's next opponent. You would think Arum would jump on that. JMM doesn't punch as hard as Pacquiao at Welterweight, and there is no guarantee that Hatton is coming out of retirement. So in that case, the biggest fight out there for Cotto if Margarito doesn't get his license back is with JMM. Toss up fight to me.Last edited by Iceta; 11-24-2009, 07:24 PM.

Cotto needs to fight in Vegas more often..and stop that NYC PR Parade ****..his 2 biggest stages outside of New York has been his worst..
I wish he would just fight Mosley in Staples..

I agree with those who have post here that Collazo could be the right fighter for Cotto's comeback. Collazo doesn't have much power however will make Cotto earn the W and probably gain his confidence back and at the same time Cotto will be facing a recognized fighter. Probably not a level A fighter but very close.
gain his confidence back??
cotto is a warrior, he believes in himself.
it is degrading for someone like him to be given soft fyts to make him "regain his confidence".
i would like him to challenge mosley-berto winner.
he was beaten by a better man that nyt.
so be it,.... but he should move on and do not look back!
he should rest and heal for now....
get a good trainer....
and then train hard....

Cotto should fight at least to a top fighter who would suffer the same fate as his, as confidence boaster to his career! Fight the loser of Mosley-Berto to start with, before fighting the champion for titles!

He needs to take a year off, fight in Nov/Dec again of next year against not a tune-up but a tough, but winnable fight. If Collazo or Castillo is around that would be a perfect fight, maybe even Mosley II depending on how his bout with Berto goes, or possibly even Berto. He badly needs to let his body heal, before stepping into the ring again IMO. Perhaps even get some surgery to help the swelling ala Gatti. Margarito really softened him up not much other than time and/or surgery is going to help.
If he took a good year off, stood in decent shape though, maybe walk around at 170, fight one of the multiple options out there and then rematch Marg in MSG in 2011. If he were to win that fight he's right back into elite level and possibly Manny II, or Mayweather match. Again all depending on how a lot of stuff plays out, but without a doubt fighting in June again is just too early. Especially considering he needs to restructure his corner, if he can get Steward, Roach or Evangelista back he'd be in solid shape. I'm not sure how well he would do with Nacho... but it certainly can't be anything but an improvement over his current trainer.
