No surprises there. Everybody, including Team Sauerland, knew it was a hometown referee. Unbelievable that Showtime didn't do anything to get the contracts, that stipulates neutrality, enforced.

Without clinching fights would be waaaayyyy more exciting. Without it Berto and Hatton would not have beaten Urango as easily as they did. Cotto could have employed that tactic against Margarito and won that fight going away like Mosley did too.

There has to be a way found to enforce the rule.
      100% Agree.

If Kessler would move his head and learn to fight in other than straight lines, maybe he wouldn't get hit with the head coming in.

And what difference does it make, they both would beat Kessler.

It's up to the ref. If the imported fighter does the holding you can be sure the rules are enforced.

You do know that it's illegal to clinch head first don't you?

Yes I do. Ward certainly lead with his head some times during the fight, but he was punching most of the time. Rarely did he go in strictly to hold.

Kessler is a good guy, and a very good fighter. He just got beat by a guy with a ton of talent that knows how to fight multiple ways, including on the inside, which was where Kessler seemed lost.

I don't want to say anything too bad about Kessler. I know he's a source of pride for you and others in Denmark, and I think that's great. I think he'll beat Carl Froch. But he needs to learn how to fight laterally and not just in straight lines.

There's no debating that Ward won big. He would have won without the headbutts anyway. As for the holding well sometimes you can get away with it and sometimes you don't. As far as I've seen it wasn't too bad.

I just don't like dirty fighters and surely we didn't need the butts and Ward didn't need them to win either. I wish that the ref had taken a point and since he didn't I wish Kessler had fired a right hand to André's nuts. Kessler is just too nice for the progame really.

                    I saw this coming.

Hopkins is way ahead, btw. However, Ward pulled off some veteran moves, whether you like it or not.

I didn't think the holding and hitting wasn't all that bad, but he probably should've been deducted a point for the last headbutt.

Bat, were you disappointed with Kess? What do you think happened? You think he will be able to rebound now?
