That fight was kind of ugly not as ugly as people makes it to be.
1 thing I notice is that Ward was winning the fight whether he actually won it or not, thats for sure.
The bias commentary was sickening as hell. The american commentators where aweful. With America #1 mentality they came in with.
Now to the actuall fight.
Mikkel kessler hates fighting on the inside, Ward made really uncomftrale when he attacked and launched in with his right hand on Kessler. Kessler was flat on that fight. He underestimated Ward, like most of us did. Even though I reckon Ward style and tactics where making a difference no doubt, Kessler didnt fight like he is capable of though. When Ward made mistakes Kessler didnt capitalize on them like he normally does. He let Ward of the hook too many times for him to win the fight.
Ward headbutts made a difference, but not in the final outcome of the fight, more like they made Kessler tentative of throwing sometimes out of fear of getting headbutt again. Teh second clash of heads was nasty, and ref you had take a point from Ward no doubt. The holding was not as bad as I expected, because Ward was actually punching on the inside, not just holding like a crazy. Kessler didnt land the right uppercut on the inside wich was a the key punch to make Ward think aout getting in that close.
Ward speed was apparent since the eggining of the fight. It was bothering Keesler quite a bit. Kessler jabs was AWOL on this fight. Whenever he threw it 2 or 3 times he actually landed it and landed a right to the body behind it, it he didnt do it often. Wards check left hook was a thing of beautiful, he landed it pefectly and used it when it was needed.
In overall it was a decent scrap, a bit ugly but decent. Props to ward for doingg what he needed to do to win, nothing more, nothing less. Kessler needs to start adjusting better during fights and if he have to fight dirty, back, well he needs to do so. I believe Kessler didnt fought at his full potential and Ward fought the best he could. In a rematch I will still pick Kessler because he can improve a lot from what he did in this fight, ut Ward cant, because he fought a perfect fight.
In there next bouts I pick, Kessler to KO Froch in 10 and Ward to UD Taylor in a really ugly fight.
