He fought Calzaghe in the end. When he was 43 mind you. He was at a bigger disadvantage fighting Joe when he did than if it had been earlier in his career, Joe moving up 7 pounds was a negligible advantage to B-Hop.

James Toney fought at cruiserweight and up from .......... 1997 onwards
Although fault could be with Hopkins more than Calzaghe for never facing each other in their primes, I will agree with you that Hopkins was further past his prime than Calzaghe...and put up a close fight.

Joe moving up isn't that big of a deal because it would be his fight-time weight that would matter. Plus, wasn't he talking about how difficult it was for him to make weight towards the end?

    So...I agree.

It's not like Hopkins had fought at LH for long.

Hopkins deserves credit for what he has done.

Nobody not even your own 'Greatest of All Time' has done the 'right' thing every time

I agree, he should get some credit, but no way is he a legend, when all his best wins are against little guys.If he fights Dawson then I will give him more credit.

            Hopkins is overrated.

He gets away w/ too much holding, headbutting and fouling.

If the ref's called it, he'd be dq'd in half his fights.

His best fight was the Pavlik fight. It was the first time I haven't fallen asleep watching one of his fights.

              Trindiad - MIDDLEWEIGHT CHAMPION.

Oscar de la hoya - fought at 160, sure didn't look his best but who in their right mind would pass up a fight with the richest man in boxing? No one. Further, Oscar called Hopkins out. Hopkins also weighed in at 156 pounds.

Pavlik - Catchweight of 170 pounds which was 4 pounds heavier than pavlik just fought at 166 against taylor. Does anyone in the right mind believe pavlik would beat hopkins at 160? LMAO. Pavlik would get schooled. Hopkins was 43 damn years old.

Lets not forget his reign at 160 pounds he fought all of the best 160 pound fighters including Glen Johnson and lets not forget hopkins going up to Light Heavyweight at age 40 to fight antonio tarver, which is unheard of in modern boxing.

Quit hating. Hopkins has a better resume than 99.99% of fighters in the game.

Let's take a look, hopkins has a better resume than:
              Calzaghe
              Roy Jones
              Mayweather
              Marquez
              Pavlik
              Chad Dawson
              Paul Williams
              etc etc etc etc

There are only a few names in boxing today that have better resumes (pacquiao, holyfield, maybe a couple others).

NO...it's Water/electrolytes weight. You are rehydrating the body back to proper health.

Without the water/electrolytes back in your system you will show up flat.

If you can make the weight and show up healthy, that's your weight-class.

Hopkins trainer thought he was a bit heavy/fat at LH and got Hopkins into tip-top fighting shape.

If other fighters could make MW for the scales and then show up healthy for the fight, they would all do it. It's about finding your best weight. And then once you start to struggle with the weight, you move up (or retire).
