What Andre Ward and Sven Ottke have in common

well of course he had the power to do it but he couldnt ever put a combination together because ward had him resetting every two seconds, that is what happens when you put a basic (yet highly skilled) boxer in with a very versatile, unorthodox switch hitting boxer.Sure. I agree Ward is very fast and has every boxing skill imaginable. Even if the referee was fair, there was no way Kessler would have won a decision last night.
But I also know Kessler has decent handspeed and one-punch KO power, and Ward's been knocked down and hurt by clubfighters in the past.
So without the holding and headbutting, like it or not, there was definitely a chance Kessler would have won by KO.Comment

Ward didn't let Kessler get into a rhythm. A great factor on his behalf. I didn't like the 'dirty' tactics from Ward though and there wasn't any need for it. He could have beaten Mikkel fairly too though, so you can't dicredit this win.Comment

That's true Ward may have ben D/Qed in another country. How on earth you can cut up an opponents face so bad from head-butts and not receive even one warning it beyond me.Comment

I think his boxing skills won him the fight rather than his head. It was clear Kessler couldn't deal with the speed and movement of Ward.
But yeah i think he should fight in other countries just like all the others in the tournament, it does give him an unfair advantage.Comment

I think Ward relies too heavily on dirty tactics and it will be interesting to see how well he does with a neutral referee. But it will likely never happen, since Ward insists all his fights will be at home.Comment
