I don't like holding but I've always said I understood it's purpose even though it should be used less. Even when Hatton grappled Tszyu all fight long I didn't approve but did say I understood why he did it and that it was his best shot to win.

So anyway...Gene Tunney, one of the Greatest Boxers of All Time understood the Science of fighting. If he could use it and get away with it, it became part of the fight. You take what is given to you. That's why Great Fighters like Gene Tunney won. It might not be what I like, but I understand it.

I have no problem with fighters who hold a lot. This is a fight you do what you have to do. My problem is with the inept referee's who are not willing to enforce the rules. Holding is against the rules plain and simple. However, if a fighter can get away with it good for him. But, the referee's should enforce it.

Old timers used grappling a lot. It was part of boxing back in the day and seemed to slowly faded more away because people liked non-grappling boxing better. Not sure what the rules are myself.
