You cant have it both ways.
Basically. They were assuring everyone that Kessler would win the tournament and make Joe's win that much more impressive.

Or perhaps Ward was a more difficult opponent. It's easy to be aggressive against a guy who is throwing cream puffs.

Calzaghe could only beat the best in his division -which he did. At that time Kessler was a double champion and unbeaten. You could argue he's not been the same fighter since Calzaghe dominated him.

I can't do anything but diminish Calzaghe's win. Since the Kessler win was considered one of Joe's most significant victories, it has to take some luster off of his career. In my mind JC wasn't close to being an ATG anyway. Good fighter, no doubt, but not in the league of fighters his countrymen like to think he was.

We all know that he fought BHop and RJJ/Eubank, stop going on about it.

It's probably a combination, but we'll never know. I think Kessler was better back then, but at the same time Ward looked very good today. No doubt about it.

And, as noted earlier, if this is the start of a great, HOF run for Ward, why would it in the long run? What if at the end of this Ward is the only guy who beats Kessler?

That's why Super Six rocks...this is just the start of the whole thing.
