I blame Sauerland for Kessler's loss

One of the rules of the tournament was the referee is supposed to be from a neutral location.

Jack Weiss let Ward get away with frequent deliberate headbutts and holding Mikkel's arm while hitting. Ward cheated as much as he wanted to, just like I said before the fight.

Sauerland SHOULD NOT HAVE AGREED TO IT, THEY SHOULD HAVE INSISTED ON A NEUTRAL REFEREE. But they were weak and agreed to it.

Ward should have been disqualified for that last nasty headbutt that ended the fight.

I agree w/ Tunney. Ward was holding and hitting behind the head, kidneys and low blows and the ref just stood there.

Obviously bought and paid for by Goosen.

But still, I also agree w/ you Kessler fought extremely flat.

I'd blame them for putting Kessler in with some weak ass competition. Since the Calzaghe fight Kessler wasn't matched up against anyone that you could say fights the style of Andre Ward. Kessler was not prepared for what Ward brings to the table imo.

The headbutt definitely helped Ward but the holding is always what hurts Kessler, he refuses to do it. At least Cotto learns how to fight out of the clinch even though he doesn't engage them. Kessler needs to fight back from the clinch, he's too clean of a fighter. Kessler beats Abraham, Froch and Taylor, has trouble with Dirrell and Ward.

to be fair they wouldnt have had time from when the tournament was announced to try and do this... especially with kessler having a mandatory to fight prior to the tournament

Kessler was bad tonight. Ward was great.

Kessler should have shown some fight on the inside. He was too passive.

I'm sure I even heard the referee say to him that you can fight your way out when he holds you, during one of the round breaks.

I think there's a difference between 'clinching' like Ward was doing, and 'holding' like Kessler was doing. And the headbutts did come in the late rounds after Kessler was way behind on points.
