Sure you do. If you're not throwing jabs or counter punches the opponent will walk right through you.
False. There's a probably untrue tall tale about Willie Pep winning a round without throwing a single punch.

There are several forms of self defense built around the principle of disabling an an attacker without throwing back a single punch.

They may not be better but the style matchup may be a problem for that offensive fighter if his defense isn't any good...

Cotto was bigger and stronger than Pacquiao but Pac was the more skilled and better fighter...regardless of who was offensive or defensive minded...

If he was stronger why was he running? That **** looked like a deer getting chased down by a squirrel.

so everyone is willie pep now?

you have to land punches on an opponent to win a round.

making a guy miss more punches shouldn't win you a round.

making a guy miss while you land more punches wins you a round.

any form of self defense that is purely defensive is garbage. for the average person , being aggressive is how you win a fight. you have to try to do as much damage as fast as you can on your opponent and try to end the fight as soon as possible.

I'd be running too if my opponent can hit me at a ratio of 3-4 to 1...Cotto was lost as soon as Pac stepped on the gas...

It's harder to win a decision if ur a defensive fighter so you have to be damn good at it.

I am from argentina and Mayweather and Whitaker have beter skills than Nicolino.
in the epoch of nicolino the fighters dont have the tecnichehad that are now.
But a ofence fighter like Roy Jones Jr in my opinion have more skills than Floyd

Relax bro. I agree with you. I was trying to disprove the other guy's statement that said

"sure you have to worry about offense while being defensive because if you dont throw jabs or counterpunches the opponent will walk right through you."

that was the statement i was reffering to as false because willie pep supposedly won a round without any offense

Arthur Abraham doesnt throw any counterpunches. He's either in offensive mode or defensive mode.

Theres gifs of Pernell Whitaker 3 inches from an opponent's face just evading everything his opponent throws without his opponent being able to walk through him or back him up.

they go hand in hand, the best defense is a good offense and vice versa.. nobody would know who floyd was if he has 0 offense, nobody would know who pac was if he had 0 defense. right now pac's defense is amazing, and floyd was good enough to TKo gatti early in the fight
