Probably because it's harder and cuts to the bone of teh boxing maxim of being able to hit without being hit.

That said, Locche's defencive skills makes Floyd look like a bumbling amatuer.

"being offensive and getting hit less than you hit them" takes more skill than "being on the defensive and not getting hit".
