By not being contracted, he has negotiation leverage on a fight-by-fight basis.

Jeez. It is shocking how little some of you understand about business.
      You're hilarious.

Mayweather Promotions is another shell company, just like Lion Promotions (Lennox), X-Promotions (Hopkins' short-lived company before saddling up w/ Golden Boy), Winky Promotions, et al.

Floyd can claim all he wants that he's his own boss, his own promoter. But the fact of the matter is that every payday he's ever received in his pro career has come from the hands of another promoter - 35 from Top Rank, 2 from Goossen and the past three from Golden Boy.

you guys are ******s. It's called a partnership. In case you guys haven't noticed GBP is one of the most successful promotional companies in the history of the sport. Floyd is still trying to build his brand (Floyd Mayweather Promotions) so he partnered with GBP because they have the power and the capital to make things happen. I'm not exactly sure on the details of the split but GBP gets a % for their services. It's a long term plan to build the experience and brand name of his own promotional company. Eventually he plans dissolve the partnership and run his own company using an adaptive form of the business strategy the GBP currently employs.
It's called business fellas, pick up a book or a WSJ or something.

Don't think so, Floyd is kinda his own boss but has talks with Ellerbe and Haymon about the better fights out there. I think he just has a partnership with GBP were they co-promote his bouts along with him and Mayweather Promotions, cause he tends to do good business with them (from what I hear).

its essentially the same thing as having a promoter. floyd's relationship with Golden Boy is not much diffferent with what Pacquiao has with Top Rank.

heck, Top Rank fights are co-promoted by MP promotions (Manny Pacquiao Promotions) when he fights.
