I'm sorry but this really ain't necessary man...

Cotto caught 276 power punches from PAC while De La Hoya much less in 195 because he quit early. Miguel really should have called it a night in the 8th or 9th. I dunno maybe the extra 3 rounds of punishment may have took some more years left in his boxing career...

AFter watching it numerous times I had Cotto wining some of the later rounds, round 11 for example was all Cotto even though it was stoped in the 12th.

Just because he fought on the back foot people didnt like it, well they better get used to it because thats all floyds gonna do

it wasnt as bad as DLH by far. In fact look at pacquiaos face the day after two black eyes busted up ears and swollen face. They both beat the hsit out of each other

I sure think so, why take a beating like that? If you're not even trying to win the fight and simply taking punishment while trying to survive...there is no point. And its not called being a quitter, its being smart.

Arturo Gatti had a reputation as a blood and guts warrior. Cotto received a shalacking (spelling?) from this and many other forums for the outcome of the margaCHEATo bout. I think the thing that tipped it in his favor was going as far as he could and letting the referee stop it. For his reputation, I don't think it was too far.

However, he need not have gone that far for me to respect him. He may have taken too much punishment. I don't want him to suffer for it, but I am glad that his efforts garnered him more respect than he had going into the fight.

Ha ha ha. Looking for reasons to ease the pain...

Compubox for the three unecessary rounds:

                Landed shots:

                Round 10. PAC - 20 (12 power punches) , Cotto - 10 (3 power punches)

                Round 11. PAC - 32 (24 power punches), Cotto - 11 (3 power punches)

                Round 12. PAC- 13 (11 power punches), Cotto - 2 (0 power punches)

Saying Miguel won 11th with those factual nos. means your insane. GTFOH

His corner let him take too much punishment, Cotto showed a lot of heart. He was totally dominated by Pacquiao.

I agree 100%, I would have never knocked Santiago before the fight, but a true trainer that cares about his fighter would have stopped it, but just like they said Cotto runs his own camp. As much as i respected Cotto I respect him even more know but that doesn't mean they should have waited til the ref stopped it, it was over after the 8th round.
