Without a doubt, unlike everyone else here, i know for a fact Mayweather would have no issue getting in there with shane. i dont think anything has changed from 99, to 06 to 10, i think there have just been bigger options than shane since shane turned him down in 06. however Shane would be the biggest money fight out there if he were to get past berto. This idea that mayweather is terrified with him is just asnine to me.

yea, the boxing media does a great job in portraying this image as well. As a fan of both these guys, I would have LOVED to see these two fighters fight back when they both were at the lower weights...like 135 would have been a great weight for them to meet in my opinion.

Floyd is NOT fighting Shane. Arum knows this. Arum knows Floyd has run out of options. Nobody is going to pay to see him fight a no name fighter. His Stans have run out of excuses for him. This is all part of the negotiation process for Mayweather-Pacquiao. The other day Roach says that they'll fight Marquez at 145 and everybody gets worked up. Ellerbe counters saying that Mayweather will fight Mosley and everybody gets worked up. Each side is just posturing and showing the other side that they have other options. Neither side wants to go into negotiations when the opponent knows yu have nowhere else to go.

As for Mayweather being afraid of Pacquiao or Pacquiao being afraid of Mayweather: Do you really think that at the ultra-elite level that the fighters don't have supreme confidence in their own abilities? They respect the other fighter's skills, but they do not "fear" them. If they do, they are in the wrong business.

I agree, its all about positioning yourself for the negotiation table. If Mayweather is required to fight Mosley to force a bigger payout from a Mayweather - Pacman clash, then he will. However, the chumps and hater on here will tell you otherwise.

Once Mosley beats Berto, he has positioned himself nicely and it forces other fighters to fight him.
