This is a very sad day for me and i have no shame in telling you all how upset i truely am. I NEVER expected this to happen at all, i thought we would see a recharged Roy. Looks like it is the end of an era, the end of the era of the most talented fighter i have ever seen, i will miss him very much.

This is so ****ing sad, Roy was so damn good. The last great fighter in the higher weight divisions is gone.

It is sad, i thought we would see him comeback in top shape mentally and physically. Guess the Roy most of us grew fond of is gone.

I think i am gonna step back from boxing for a while, this is extremely shocking stuff, what happened, did he just give up?
What makes it worse is the people like cynical who just spout all kinds of hate about him. Like he did something to them personally.

Boxers who rely solely on reflex movement to avoid punches tend not to last as long as the boxers who use their arms to defend, as reflexes are the first things to go when you get older. Whats worse is that once the reflexes go it makes the fighters look really bad. Personally I tend to like the boxers who defend relying mostly on their reflexes. I was saddened when i saw naz losing his reflexes and even more saddened seeing jones lose his.
Jones can never come back, age has taken one of his most important assets.
I'm not going to watch the fight tonight, he was the greatest boxer i ever saw (in my time) and i can't bare to see him like he was last night...goodbye RJJ

I dunno about ya'll but for me, the era ended when he got KO'd by Tarver. You had to know he would never be the same.

I feel the first Tarver fight was his greatest victory. He had to buckle down and FIGHT for it. That was the last time we saw Roy's desire.

With Johnson, it wasn't that Roy's skills, speed or athleticism eroded. What eroded was his desire to fight. He just wasn't interested. The pedestal he once sat on, he did not wish to climb back up, because he knew how high it was.

I think you summed it all up there lukhanli, He just did not want to fight.
I was surprised though he looked in amazing shape before the fight i thought he was going to show the world what RJJ can do, saddest day in boxing and it becomes the worst memory in the short time i have followed the sport.
