Moore is not that bad of a fighter he has an extensive amateur backround, and he has really good power and he just got lucky in the Jirov fight and caught Jirov. Nothing to it really. All those people that say Jirov was ruined by Toney are morons. He is going to enter into his prime right now. He fought well in last 3 fights at heavyweight even though he lost 2 of the of the last 3. Against Moore he was winning almost every round but Moore got a lucky punch in, against Mesi he was being outboxed but he knocked Mesi down 3 times in the last round, and he won tonight. At cruiserweight he is going to do some serious damage. Jirov is fighter that looses sometimes but he never looses bad, everytime he looses he looses in good fashion. Kinda like Gatti and some other fighters, he gains popularity even in "defeat."

But the important thing is he came right back from it. Almost everybody gets knocked out once or twice. That was only Jirov's second fight at heavyweight so he has an excuse there, his second fight at heavyweight he went up against a big punch like Moorer.

My opinion is that Jirov is a waste of some great boxing potential. He has great offensive boxing skills, hits hard, and is tough as hell, BUT - his defensive skills are amazingly bad. No head movement, for starters - and as the fight goes on, he tends to not even try to dodge punches, as far as I can tell! He uses his iron chin as his primary defense, and that works for him I guess as long as he's up against someone he can overpower or out-class, but against a fighter like Toney or Moorer, those head-shots build up and before you know it, Jirov is koed.

Remember the Moorer fight? Jirov was totally out-working Moorer, but the Russian/Khazak just kept coming in with his big dumb head completely stationary and sticking right out there and eventually Moorer tagged him enough to wobble him and knock him down. Jirov gets up too fast, shaky-legged, and the fight is stopped.

If the guy's defense was as good as his offense, I'd say that he could be the top cruiserweight, or a top-ten heavyweight. But unless he does some HUGE work on his defense, it's never gonna happen.

Of course, some improvement in the defense would not hurt either.

Jirov will walk through Mormshmack in two rounds.

You cracked me up with that

And also, I was not impressed with Big truck's power, speed, or workrate. Mormeck was completely gassed for the last three rounds, and Braithwaite couldn't take advantage of it.
He probably wouldn't walk through Jirov, but I wouldn't hesitate to lay out a decent sized load of cash on Mormeck, should the fight take place. Braithwaite is less experienced than Jirov, but much more talented, as well as having better speed, reach, puts together better combos, and probably has at least as much power. Mormeck beat him mostly with experience, though it didn't hurt having more power, and (surprisingly) better handspeed, which he displayed in the last few rounds. And Mormeck is far better inside than Wayne.

And of course he's got that "cheshire-cat grin" going for him as well

At this point in time, I can't think of anyone I'd pick over Mormeck in the cruiser division. I would, however, dearly love to see Chris Byrd lose 10 pounds and get into the ring with Mormeck. Byrd's experience and style could just be what it would take to give Mormeck all he can handle.
