Vitali is better than his brother and is a great fighter but I don't consider him an all time great. He may of beat some of the greats like Joe Louis but part of being great is resume. Vitali fights in a bad era and sadly that will always hold him back from being an all time great. He also doesn't have the skills like an Ali or Joe Louis but Vitali is a big guy and packs a powerful props. I would never bash Vitali.

Ali fanboys will deny it. Even though Ali got knocked unconcious and had to take an illegal substance in order to beat 188 lbs Henry Cooper. Vitali is bigger, stronger and smarter than anyone Ali ever faced. Vitali isnt going to punch himself out like a Foreman (who was considered "big" back then even though he was 1/2 inch and 2 lbs bigger than Ali) and he is unbelievably more skilled and more athletic than Buster Mathis. Theres no way Ali could compete. Not going to out think Vitali, who, unlike Ali, can actually read.

Did the Soviets let any of their amateur fighters turn pro?

Plus, how do you explain grown men that fought for the Soviet Union losing to children from the American Amateur system?

It's not like they would have dominated....they would just have made it more competitive in nature.

Notice the Soviet fighters also came at a time when the Americans are not that into the sport anymore?

Poor people tend to be drawn into sports that they don't have many options for.

Give poor people more options, like going to school while playing sports and....less of a chance they go into boxing.

HW division for instance: Crap American fighters compared to the past.


And remember, good amateurs don't always make good pros.
