    More excuses

Here we go again with the excuses. Sure, blame it on the trainer. When Freddie Roach said the trainer was inexperienced and that Joe Santiago isn't the boss, all you Cotto supporters said Roach was wrong. Now that Cotto loses, you blame it on the trainer, which is what Roach has been trying to tell you guys the entire time. The top 5 excuses whenever Manny knocks out his opponents certain apply to Cotto 1) Cotto was dehydrated 2) Cotto overtrained 3) Cotto wasn't the same after the Margarito fight 4) Manny only fights people at the end of their careers 5) Manny got lucky. You dumb asses don't know what you're talking about. But it's OK bc people always make excuses. It's common for all losers to make excuses.

Tito trinidad is right. He is not making excuses as what others tried to emphasize. What he is saying is that the corner should stop the fight before 12 or that the corner should take the initiative to protect their fighter. Because, it is clear to all naked eye that cotto is done. Since round seven he has no more capacity to finish the fight in his favor. It's all one sided since then. His will to win is gone and what is left in him is just the will to survive and to avoid a shameful situation of hitting the canvas for good. The corner should know this situation best, they should see the welfare of their fighter.

Trinidad Sr. should definitely train Cotto. It needs to happen if Cotto wants to stay atop among the elites.

I am afraid that its too late in Cotto's career for any trainer to tell him what to do, he feels as if he is the boss and calls the shots, therefore no matter what he will have alot of complications in the ring, I think this is what happened wit Evangelista, actually im sure this is what happened, Cotto felt like he was the boss of Evangelista, while Evangelista never backed down and thats when everything exploded.

Cotto could've been an all time great if he had a different corner and if he listened to advice. The truth of the matter is that he has run his own career this entire time. Evangelista wasn't in charge in the camp; that's exactly what Cotto told Evangelista in their fight. He said: "I'm the boss here". And he always acts like that.

Miguel has great skills, awesome power but no real desire to re-learn or learn how to develop these things. A few trainers, including Emmanuel Stewart offered their services to Cotto, only to be turned down... why? Because Cotto knows that if he gets a legitimate trainer he'll have to listen to him and he won't be the boss anymore and this is something he can't tolerate. And now, when the press asks him if he's going to change his corner he asks them with genuine surprise in his voice: "why should I do that? the corner's fine"... I know he doesn't want to throw Santiago under the bus... and that's good. But the truth of the matter is you need to go back to square 1 if you want to continue fighting at a high level for a few years. If not, his career is bound to end like Tito's.
agreed, i still think there is time for cotto, he is not too old and there are a few massive bouts he could still be involved in - i.e. hatton, margarito, maybe even rematches with ssm and clottey.

however he seriously needs to consider a revamp of his camp and get a new trainer in, santiago can stay in there as assistant but imo he needs some fresh input.

i think he should have taken the offer from manny steward, how often does a HOF trainer ask a fighter is hes needing an extra cornerman? maybe manny steward isn't interested anymore though, he won't have appreciated being snubbed and part of me thinks manny only offered to come in so that he could match his wits with freddie roach.
