He retired and became a reporter I believe. He seemed like a really cool, intelligent guy.

I heard that Zeljko got sick and had to retire? I do not know too many details, but that is what I have heard. The guy was a good fighter. His only loss was to Lewis and he gave Lewis a tough fight!

From what I've read Zeljko was a good technical fighter who lacked the killer instinct that is so helpful to make it in the sport. He was also unique in that he was a good 6'3" and had a fairly large heavyweight frame but preferred to be very skinny. He simply felt more healthy at 180 lbs. or so. He hated keeping the weight on but his handlers felt that 210-220 would be best for him at heavyweight. When he quit fighting he immediatley returned to his vegetarian diet (he ate meat and fish as a boxer, to keep strong) and went back down to about 175 lbs.

I also remember him saying in an interview the Lennox Lewis (the two are friends) was lazy in the gym and that his lifts (at only 214 lbs) were comparable to Lewis's at 250-260.

he gave lewis a bit of a scare in their fight, lewis looked to be very tired, but the problem was mavorvic was only throwing about 25 punches a round, and you just can't win fights throwing that amount of punches, but he still suprised lewis in that fight, and i think he marked lewis up as well

Zelko had Lewis in a bit of trouble in the 7th...I will never forget that...I was in college and no one had HBO at the time so me and some of my buddies rented a room at the rainbow motel and all put a lot of money on Zelko not knowing who the **** he was...

              good times

I'll say one thing about Mavrovic-he had a really good chin! I mean Jesus ****in christ, did you see some of the bombs he took from Lewis that night! Lewis hit him with a devastating combination of several punches at one point in the latter part of the fight, and still could not take Zeljco off his feet! He also really stunned Lewis and appeared to have him out on his feet-but the damned ref gave Lewis time to recover! WTF and WTF!Later brother brologs.
