Seemed to me Cotto was boxing but steadily trying to walk Pac down...

Cotto didn't just get caught, Pac breaks his opponents down with accumulation...he wasn't hurt from the first KD...and he tried to fight at Pac's pace which he isn't used to...

Its pointless to compare Floyd to Cotto...

So you have one example for his entire career and it's from a fight that happened over 5 years ago?

      I expected as much.

Why don't we show Pac's body shot KO by some little 115 pound guy and wonder aloud if Mayweather can hit harder than him.

This was Floyd when he was dangerous and was willing to risk.

The question in my mind is how Manny will react to hitting air a whole lot more than he's used to. He's likely to hit Floyd more than most people do, but it may frustrate him a lot because he won't connect on a level that he's used to. If he reacts badly to that, Floyd will absolutely dominate him after that point.

I've seen every single significant Mayweather fight so why don't you point out the fight, the round and the time in which Mayweather was badly hurt and I will go back and watch it again.

Badly hurt isn't the same as remotely hurt.

You can't be changing your stance mid stride.

Floyd has been stunned before, both times by southpaws, when Corley caught him and when Zab did it.

Pac is a southpaw and will catch Floyd with it.

I definitely thought there were more than a handful of stretches where Cotto was able to handle Pac with a solid jab and nothing else. He was able to push Pac back with it but he wasn't disciplined enough nor was he satisfied to sit back and fight conservative round after round.

Mayweather doesn't care if it is boring, he will do what Cotto did in the 1st round and he will do it all night without ever mixing it up and getting himself caught like Cotto did in the 2nd and 4th rounds.
Mayweather can box moving forward, moving back and moving to the sides. What Cotto does while he's moving back Mayweather does the same BUT while throwing and landing punches. Big difference there.

Yea, I wasn't feeling that bait and switch either.

It went from "remotely hurt" which we know means stunned, to

"badly hurt" which means reeling from the blow.

Floyd was stunned by two southpaws, with less power than Manny.

The reason why Pacquiao's been able to put up a fight against counter-punchers is because he was faster than his opponents. Mayweather's a different story, however. He's a fast counter-puncher.

If Cotto was able to land some good shots on Pacquiao, it means Mayweather's able to, as well. In this case, I think Mayweather will be more effective.
The difference is Cotto hits pretty hard, and Floyd can't punch too hard without possibly damaging his hands. Pacquiao would be hit by Floyd if they fought, for sure, but would it bother him? After the Cotto fight, I'm not so sure. He literally smiled at Cotto's hardest punches. Makes me doubt Floyd can hurt Manny at all. He will probably ask Floyd to stop tickling him. It's possible Floyd could catch Manny by surprise and score a knockdown, because Floyd is fast, but Manny would surely get back to his feet and be fine.

I wouldn't actually be shocked if this fight ended up being kinda one-sided for Manny. Not saying it will, but I would not be shocked because that's what usually happens in Pacquiao fights. It's almost like a Hatton-Malignaggi type situation. One is a far superior boxer, and on paper at least, he should win, but Hatton had no respect whatsoever for Paulie's (lack of) power. I called that fight correctly, because I knew that if you can't hurt Hatton he will walk right through you. If a Pacquiao-Mayweather fight turned out similar I wouldn't be surprised.

This was Floyd when he was dangerous and was willing to risk.

5 years ago Floyd was kinda hurt, didn't go down, and was recovered within 10 seconds.

Really if people want to make that point they may as well admit that it was only 6 years ago that Manny was laid flat on his ass by Serikzhan Yeshmagambetov.
