So that excuse of Floyd not taking on Margarita because it meant staying with Arum is bull, because he ended up fighting Baldomir anyway with the same promoter.

Shane is a great fighter. He never had great defense, but his chin is solid and great 'power boxing'. I think he was down once in his career during the first Vernon Forrest fight from a solid right (after monstrous headbut in the same round).

At his prime in LW, WW he would have beaten Floyd. Unfortunately, IMO, Floyd Jr. would UD him if they fight in 2010.
obviously, shane didnt feel that way since he dodge floyd twice when called out

and, yes, there's a good possibility Shane loses to Berto(If Berto doesn't do anything silly, he may very well UD Shane). But, I think Shane just needs to land that bomb on Berto and it's either gonna be la la land for Andre, or it's the beginning of a beat-down.
            i'm agreeing with your thread....

forget paul williams, and mayweather, forget pacman....

ppl were calling for shane to retire, even after he BEAT mayorga. he comes back and beats an overrated guy who had been exposed as a cheater, and ppl think shane is the best 147 lber. in the world.

he's not even going to beat berto, so there's no point in discussing shane's name anymore, when it comes to possible opponents for mayweather and pacquiao.

            get it?

A few tweaks in the gameplan, and a good number of fighters, like P. Will, and Cotto would've beaten Margarita, that's all there's to it.

You sir, are a ****ing idiot.

Same thing with Cotto, I don't think he would've dominated Margarita had he applied the same gameplan that Shane used on the cheater, but, it would've been an easier fight for Cotto and won!

No doubt about it, Margarita can take a f**kin' bat to his chin. But, it takes more than just a hard punch to stop Margarita. It's about applying the right plan, and so far Shane has been the only one to do so. If you don't have a stiff jab, the only other way to go is to apply the hit and clinch, unless you have the stamina to stick and move all night long.

Margarita is such a simple fighter, he has no jab to speak of. A terrific chin, hard puncher, with great stamina, lacks mobility. C'mon now.
Let me let you in on something you might not know.....

STYLES MAKE FIGHTS. Margarito is a very bad style for Cotto, real boxing fans saw this. Cotto can't fight gong backwards, we have seen it time and time again. He can't employ a right strategy because Marg doesn't allow him to. Marg smothers his ability to box him and bully him. His chin absorbs the shots and he keep s coming forward and KO's Cotto.

As far as Shane, Shane is a better boxer than Cotto going backwards and has much better defense. He was able to land on Marg because he didn't stand in front of him and didn't allow himself to be smothered but his very good counter punching.

Marg might be simple in concept but he is a tough nut to crack for most fighters because of his style.

                  True words.

It's about time floyd stepped up and fought someone his own size. Truly is becoming a joke. He obviously is a great, but i find it hard comparing him with true great fighters of the past due to his lack of heart/ambition to fight the best.

hahaha, lmao, rofl. Listen dimw*t, what do you call the first 5-6 rounds of the Cotto - Margarita fight ?

While I was watching the Cotto-Margarita fight, I knew Cotto could not keep up that kind of movement against a ****er/workhorse like Margarita. I thought he had to make a minor adjustment to what he was already doing. Added the hit and grab tactic, would've slowed down that cheater, it would've nullified his forward progress and at the same time frustrated him.

** The biggest difference between Shane and Cotto when they fought Margarita, was that Shane clinched at the right times, that's all there was to it **

Stickin' and moving with some clinching is the answer to stop a plodder w/ no jab whatsoever!

You don't have to be f**kin SRR, SSM, SRL to beat that Joto you idolize, lmao.
