Did something happen to Shane Mosely?

I haven't seen too many of Shane's fights but I was watching his fights against DLH (the 1st one), then against Forrest (the 1st one), and both of the fights against Wright. While I was watching, I noticed that in these fights, Shane didn't seem to use his feet near as much as when he fought Oscar. In the first round of the Forrest fight it seemed like that's what he had planned, but after he got hit with a head but, I didn't see him really pick his feet up and move since. I may be wrong, somebody clear it up if I am, though.

    hmm

I think Shane lost a lot of confidence by losing to Forrest and also made a mistake by adding so much muscle (whether he did it legally or illegally).

That is why he is not a top 10 p4p fighter and never will be again. I pick David Estrada to beat him. Estrada is a very good, young, and underrated fighter who was the underdog in his last 2 fights and won both of them. He has not faced someone as good as Mosley yet, but this isn't the Mosley of old, it's just an old Mosley.

He can't maintain that footwork he use to use for 12 rounds anymore. The guy is getting old.

          I Disagree

Mosley just narrowly lost to a top P4P guy and did it at least 14lbs above his natural weight. Mosley definitely bulked up too much when going up to 154 - but he claims he's laying off the weights - and I expect to see the best Mosley since DLH I.
There are still big fights which are winnable for Shane at 147 - I wouldn't write him off as old until we see how he fares as a lighter fighter

You cannot just lose muscle though, not without severe repurcussions. The only way Mosley can make 147 is by losing muscle and/or dehydrating himself immensely. Either one will hurt his performance.

Muscle breaks down naturally if you have been lifting to maintain an artificially high muscle mass and stop doing the work necessary to maintain it. If this is over a long enough period - I don't see that coming down 7 lbs is going to be a problem

Losing muscle is never good, whether it's natural or not. Usually when it is natural it is due to the effects of aging. Losing muscle no matter how you do it will negatively affect you.

Increasing muscle tissue is the body's way of adapting to the increased strain it has been under, when you lose the muscle mass this just means that the body is less able to cope with the same kind of strain for which it adapted. Converting from 100 metres to 800 in athletics will result in diminished muscle mass - but this is just the body adapting to a new discipline. You can have too much muscle mass for certain disciplines and this is what happened to Shane when he started to lose his speed, mobility and snap in his punches. If you're saying that radical muscle deteriotation is always bad then I agree - but 7lbs is not radical

Yeah but in say the case of Roy Jones it was 25 lbs of muscle but only 7 lbs in Mosley`s case. He made this decission some time ago so he`s been coming down gradually and i think it won`t effect him. It might actually make him faster!
