That being said, I've been hearing a lot of crazy stuff today that really any true boxing fan I think would agree with me, is quite disrespectful to some of the legends of our sport. "Manny Pacquiao Top Ten ATG", or things like "Manny is God" as well as "Manny Pacquiao, Greatest of All Time". Seriously people; Come on. You can't be considered one of the greatest if all your most noticeable accomplishments came against past their prime fighters or guys who are a shell of their former selves. I give Manny credit , he has accomplished many things like the belts in seven weight-classes... Though no one can argue with me on the point that if he wasn't fighting in this day and age, this feat would have been impossible, therefore it is overrated. Back in the day there were half the amount of weight-classes, so manny would have had to literally go though practically every single weight division from bottom to top. Impossible. The media as well as the sport of boxing is desperate to crown the next king, and people are getting caught up in all the hype. In a day and age where you have an inflated amount of weight-classes, a ridiculous about of belts, catch-weight fights for titles, etc., it's really hard to compare a fighters achievements to someone from the days of yesteryear. To compare Manny Pacquiao to Henry Armstrong is just ludicrous and I find it disrespectful. Guys like Robinson, Armstrong, and even Ali along with their accomplishments, should not be taken lightly. What they've done for the sport should not be forgotten so easily. I'll repeat Manny deserves credit for what he's accomplished, but so do the true legends of the sport. Manny's on the right path but he's still got a ways to go.
I agree with. I think he is top 30 for sure. But, not top 10 and nothing close to top 10 yet. Let GOAT. And, I am a huge Pac fan. But, I can not put him ahead of Robinson, Armstrong, Langford, Greb, Pep, Charles, Ali, Johnson, Louis, Duran, Whitaker, Moore, Walker, Wilde, Chavez, Leonard.

I think Pac is in the discussion with the greats like Gavilan, Lamotta, Napoles, Sanchez, Ike Williams. I think Pac is what that level.

If Pac beats Mayweather and Mosley then I can put him up with the level of Walker, Moore, Johnson, Chavez, Charles, Wilde, Leonard, Duran, and Whitaker. But, he still wouldn't be on the level of Robinson, Armstron, Ali, Pep, Greb, Louis, or Langford.

Its hard to compare to legends of old. I know alot of us werent around those times anyway.

Bert Sugar is pretty old school, and was around the times of sugar ray robinson, and Henry Armstrong. He had an interview last night with ESPN, and he said Manny is the greatest left hand fighter of all time, among othter things, and said he belongs with the names of sugar ray robinson and Henry armstrong.

Emmanuel steward after the fight said he actually places Manny above Robinson.

Those are just opinions anyway, and mythical rankings. Nothing is official. Everyone has an opinion, including members of a boxing forum. But those guys hold more credibility than alot of people in here.

Ok let's say you count away those 7 titles, 4 lineal championship in 4 different weight divisions is still 4/8 of the original weight class. Feat is still the first ever to happen man. We can also argue that it's 5 lineal if Margacheto didn't take away Cotto's lineal championship but that would be pushing it for me.

Love him or hate him, Pacquiao is probably one of the top 25 fighters of all-time now, something that can't be said for Mayweather. If he were to beat Mayweather, then he probably cuts the top ten.

Marco Antonio Barrera twice, Erik Morales twice, Juan Manuel Marquez, Oscar De La Hoya, Ricky Hatton and Miguel Cotto = one hell of a list of victories if you ask me and that doesn't include his other victories against solid title holders. People are going to have excuses for a few of those victories, like Barrera was shot the second time or Morale was shot the second time or De La Hoya was weight-drained or Hatton was chin-shy after losing to Mayweather or Cotto wasn't the same fighter after getting stopped by Margarito, but that's just excuse-making and that's just boxing. If you went through the resume of some of the undisputed all-time great fighters you could find excuses for their great victories as well.

Its not Pacquiao's fault that he was born in this era of multiple sanctioning bodies and bull**** politics. It is impossible(pointless?) to compare competition etc. with fighters from bygone eras, but in my opinion,Manny is one of the greatest of all time and I say that because I believe that Manny would have been a great fighter if he were around in any era.

That for me is what makes a legendary fighter.
