  • Watch everyone start talkin **** bout boxing now....

The girl who died in the golden gloves will be on the front page of every website, newspaper, tv, etc. I read it and it was very sad, may she rest in peace..

All of a sudden people die in amateur boxing...out of every 100,000 amateur boxers, there is 1.3 deaths. In football, soccer, basketball, etc. There's 1000 times more deaths...

All of a sudden boxing turns into a sport where all the people die? What the **** is up with that ****...I wish some people would stop talkin **** about it, it's just really pissing me off...

My dad sees it on yahoo when he opens the internet up, then he says u hear a girl died in a boxing fight, then i say ya i know, and he says it's very bad..

I'm sure nobody would be sayin nothin if i was playin basketball..where the deaths are actually more than amateur boxing, and theres stats that back my words up...

There can be ten thousand deaths a year in football and it will still be boxing known as the "dangerous" sport...

I bet more people die walking down the street then in a amateur boxing match..

1.3 out of 100,000..That's just a huge number, i'm sure there is more deaths then that just by walking down the street of my boxing gym..boxing has saved my life and i dunno where i would be without it, it helped me in so many ways that people just can't appreciate that, if i wasn't boxing, what do they want me to do, go drink? go smoke weeD? go shoot up drugs? I'm sure boxing is more safer then all those, and even if there is a slim chance of death of dying in that ring, then i shall take the risks, i'd rather die in the ring then on the streets, i'd rather die like a warrior...

(not saying i'm gonna die, just really pissed off)

One person dies walkin down the street, and nobody says it's dangerous to walk down the street..ONLY BOXING THEY DO, what has this world come to...Thank you for reading what i feel at this moment, i wrote this when my dad starts actin like it's a bad sport cuz of one death....

you'd think after all the games in baseball every year that one entire team would get wiped out. Just a thought. attributed to george costanza.

Yeah the media loves to report anything bad on boxing. Big news sites NEVER reported **** about Floyd Mayweather, but as soon as that criminal abuse **** came out, they had a news story on Mayweather. What the **** is up with that?

Think about all the recent national news boxing things that the masses know about. Something bad about Tyson (always), Tonya Harding, Million Dollar Baby, some female "boxer" dies in the ring.

Instead of saying "let's improve the safety of boxing" the national media will say "let's ban boxing" as if this will even happen. They won't dare hold the referee or ringside doctor responsible. No, they'll hold the sport itself responsible. Hell, they'll probably try to somehow blame it on Tyson.

After all, everything that is wrong with boxing involves Tyson and Don King.

Most people are idiots. They think Tyson fouls a lot, bites all the time, is still with Don King. They think most boxing matches are fixed by Don King. They think boxing can't be good if the heavyweight division isn't good.

There has been no deaths in MMA but once there is they'll be a bandwagon of politicians trying to get their name in the paper by banning the sport. You won't see anyone trying to ban cars and people die in them every say. Kids get paralyzed and killed in high school contact sports every year but they keep wrestling and boxing out of the schools because they're "dangerous". Other sports are more accepted so injuries and even deaths are just wrote off as freak accidents where as combat sports are considered "unsafe". Even though we have statistics proving how safe combat sports (boxing mma wrestling) are, stories like this will always set us back. MMA is illegal in a lot of states because politicians won't take the time to learn what the sport is all about. Ignorance is what hurts us the most.

That's a pretty hard statistic to believe, dude. Where's your source?

I mean, come on - I'm obviously a boxing fan... but boxing IS a sport where people get hit continuously in the damn head. You might hear of someone collapsing in football or a baseball game - but 1000 times as much?!? That's an irresponsible statement to make unless you have a reliable source to back it up...

And if you just made it up, that makes you worse than the journalists reporting on a real story.

Actually, if you're over age 40, you have a better chance of dying from a heart attack on the ****ter, or having sex, than a boxer does of dying in the ring. Go figure.

Auto accidents, I believe, are still the #1 cause of accidental deaths, nearly double that of shooting deaths. I haven't seen any bills introduced to ban cars. However, the pneumonia and common flu kill more people than car accidents, and I also read in the JAMA that doctors could be the leading cause of death in the US. Can we ban those too?

I'm introducing a bill to ban Vans. I ****ing hate them. The drivers always drive so damn slow when I'm late for school!

Umm...the politicians won't put in much effort to ban MMA if an MMA fighter dies...cause nobody gives enough of a **** about MMA to care. It'd have to happen in UFC because that's the only MMA anybody in the states really knows about THAT much. And it is hard to see anybody dying in the UFC now with all the rules compared to what it was in the early to mid 90s.

Have a look at this site:

                    http://boxingact.org.au/safety.html

Obviously there's not 1000 times more deaths in those other sports that he mentioned, but there are around 100 times more deaths in horse racing, which is a huge difference.

I would say that a boxing death gets at least 1000 times more media coverage than a death in any other sport. When have you heard anyone call for a ban on horse racing?
