It does completely suck that the only news coverage that boxing seems to ever get is the negative kind! It's always been that way, and apparently always will. We fans love it though, and know the real deal..so screw the rest of them!

Another reason why boxing gets only negative coverage is that most people involved in it come from poor backgrounds. There's always a bias towards sports that tradionally rich people play, like tennis and golf. Not to mention amateur sports. Fact is that many newspaper sports editors are snobs and consider "real" sports to be those contested by amateurs. That is to say, amateur sports contested by rich kids: skiing, swimming, gynmastics, etc.

yea it suks... this is one reason why boxing isn't as popular as it use to be... media suks... but imo boxing isnt the most dangerous sport... muay thai kickboxing is... my trainer killed 2 people in the ring and he knows other fighters that got killed as well in the ring.. but yea the media reports this kinda stuff and couldnt even write about the morales pac fight and other good fights... juss stuff like this.. may her rest in peace...

Before u start talkin **** think...
someone posted the link for me(thank you very much)
#1. I was talking about amateur boxing, not professional boxing, and in professional boxing the numbers are a lot higher than that...
#2. I was just exaggerating when i said 1000 times more, i was just sayin they're higher than boxing..
I was in a bad mood and i was just sayin how i felt, if u wanted a link all you had to do ask, instead of just startin to assume ****...

hey stickman where the hell did you get those comparisons from? I mean what are the statistics on ppl dying of a heart attack from taking a ****? I have never heard any figures relating to that. I would never have thought of dying in that way- this is something to think about when i hit 40 lol

If people wanna take part in the sport they take the risks.
That is unless they are not professional enough to admit that they are at risk or are naive enough not to accept the risks. End of.

All of a sudden people die in amateur boxing...out of every 100,000 amateur boxers, there is 1.3 deaths. In football, soccer, basketball, etc. There's 1000 times more deaths...
All of a sudden boxing turns into a sport where all the people die? What the **** is up with that ****...I wish some people would stop talkin **** about it, it's just really pissing me off...
My dad sees it on yahoo when he opens the internet up, then he says u hear a girl died in a boxing fight, then i say ya i know, and he says it's very bad..
I'm sure nobody would be sayin nothin if i was playin basketball..where the deaths are actually more than amateur boxing, and theres stats that back my words up...
There can be ten thousand deaths a year in football and it will still be boxing known as the "dangerous" sport...
I bet more people die walking down the street then in a amateur boxing match..
1.3 out of 100,000..That's just a huge number, i'm sure there is more deaths then that just by walking down the street of my boxing gym..boxing has saved my life and i dunno where i would be without it, it helped me in so many ways that people just can't appreciate that, if i wasn't boxing, what do they want me to do, go drink? go smoke weeD? go shoot up drugs? I'm sure boxing is more safer then all those, and even if there is a slim chance of death of dying in that ring, then i shall take the risks, i'd rather die in the ring then on the streets, i'd rather die like a warrior...
(not saying i'm gonna die, just really pissed off)
One person dies walkin down the street, and nobody says it's dangerous to walk down the street..ONLY BOXING THEY DO, what has this world come to...Thank you for reading what i feel at this moment, i wrote this when my dad starts actin like it's a bad sport cuz of one death....
She fought against doctor's orders. She knew that she had a serious risk of dying before she entered the ring. She could have prevented it.

sure there are more injuries/deaths in football maybe, but remember, that sport is way more played than boxing. and like our man toney says, 'you don't play boxing.'

Originally posted by SlipxWell >way< more people play football and basketball, and I seriously doubt theres been any deaths in basketball, unless someone got a subdural hematoma from an elbow or something. Football, I can see where deaths will occur, but again take into consideration the sheer number of football athletes opposed to boxers...it's more than 20 to 1, boxing is a cult sport these days except for in certain parts of certain cities. Parents want their children to play football, basketball, or baseball...even soccer.. boxing is far more less popular than all those sports. Many claim Tyson was the downfall of the sport, but I know the true downfall was the invention of ekg/mri scanning.

You don't see people die in football go all over the news...
